Just purchased a 1988 Carver 3067 Santego and having trouble figuring out how to trim up the outdrives. If I just push the "up" button they won't come up..was told today you have to push the buttons in sequence to make then come up. What's the secret? Thanks..

View the latest post Hello need some input on my 1981 carver steering cable changeover

Hello All!!
I am new to the forum and I have a 1981 Carver Mariner 33ft. I have had the boat two years and when I purchased I was told the steering cable was bad. No biggie, right? Wrong! My cable is obsolete and I talked to the manufacturer and have a replacement part but I have some questions about how it’s attaching to the rudders because the two cable have differences... any input would be much appreciated. Has anyone had to replace theirs?

View the latest post 1992 28ft Carver Montego purchase

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, hoping to become a regular member. I'm looking at a 28ft Carver Montego - if my research is correct it is a Montego 528. This would make me a new boat owner, I have little boating experience and no one in my life who does, so I'm doing research in hopes of making an informed decision.

I'm interested in input on this model: good things as well as downsides and things to consider. The boat would be used primarily as a fishing/hunting vessel in the Cook Inlet of Alaska (halibut fishing, crabbing, deer hunting, etc). It is being sold for $25,000 (including some fishing gear). There are 938 hours total on the engines, according to the seller it has a 570 inboard and a Volvo Penta outboard. We'd likely want to take it out on reasonable days, I'm not interested in getting into 10ft seas, but it would need to be able to handle changing weather (as can be expected in Alaska).

Would you folks be willing to offer opinions, both good and bad, about this? What things do I need to know? What questions do I need to ask? Is the price reasonable if the boat is in decent shape?

Thank you in advance!

View the latest post C37 Sun pad and Dingy Davit

Hi Fellow Carver Owners

We just bought our 2019 C37 and can't wait to get it on the water but before we do we want to make sure we install the right dingy davit system and a much needed sun pad. Does any one have any experience doing this and have recommendations?

Thanks
Sandra

View the latest post New Member, looking for input on 380 Santego

I'm a new member, hi everyone. My wife and I are considering purchasing a '99 Carver 380 Santego with twin Cummins 330B engines (so 660 HP total). We're based in Seattle and will be using the boat for cruising throughout Puget Sound and as far north as the Broughtons. We've been shopping for about six months. We started out focused on '80s trawlers, but then decided we wanted to have something a bit newer, with better maintenance support, and a vessel that could get up and go when needed. However, we anticipate running more slowly (~8-12 knots) the large majority of our time on the water. We really like the layout and functionality of the 380 and it will fit into a 40' slip, which are much easier to find that anything larger.

So, what I am interested in hearing is input on how this 380 Santego will handle typical Puget Sound cruising conditions (meaning in decent weather). Will the boat ride reasonably well at slower speeds? How will it handle increasing wave and wind levels? What kind of conditions would you consider to be it's comfort limits? Is this a good hull/vessel for cruising in Puget Sound from Seattle through to Broughtons?

Thanks for your help!

View the latest post safety breaker panel access

On my Carver 406, there is a 12volt safety breaker panel located below the last step of the salon’s stairway. I would like to access the back of this panel but can not figure out how to get to it. Any help would be appreciated.
i.e. My quest is to discover how this is wired and incorporating that into the electrical diagram for my boat.

View the latest post New member, shopping for my first Carver

Live in Washington DC and have recently discovered boating and Carver Aft Cabin line. When I found out a used Carver yacht was in my price range, I was elated! I've found a marina that will take me and I now need to find my first boat. I'm very interested in the Aft Cabin range, around the 40' range.

My purpose with yachting is to have a weekend getaway boat I can have a friend or two on, some venturing out into the water, but mostly a "floating weekend apartment" if that makes sense.

Please help me with:

1. What are the key questions to ask a seller about a Carver yacht?
2. What are the top 2-3 things you wished you'd known before you bought one?
3. If you were to talk me out of buying a Carver yacht, what would you say?
4. Whenever I buy a used car, I have a mechanic look at it to tell me what might be wrong. How does that work in the boat world?
5. What are the ways people can get a yacht delivered? And what are the pros and cons of each?

That's it for now. Thank you so much!
