Aft Camera

Postby yardley99 » January 27th, 2018, 8:26 am

I have a camera in the cabin, one in the engine room (both indoor rated), and there apparently was one mounted on the hard top facing aft as a back up camera (assume) which is missing. Ive seen other Carver Boats with the same camera and was wondering if this was an option and if someone could tell me what the camera model is?

Thx.

If the unit was installed by the original boat dealer after delivered from factory, chances are the camera is the same brand as your navigation electronics. Many dealers up my way rig with Raymarine so if you have say a Raymarine E120 (depends on boat year) it would have likely been a Raymarine camera, if it's a Garmin display then Garmin camera, etc. Depending on the system, it doesn't necessarily have to be a proprietary brand. I've also seen some owners install automotive cameras with their own screens so if there is a non-marine screen at the helm, that could be what it's for. What brand and model display do you have?

BTW, it helps us answer certain questions if we know the year of the vessel. If you put that in your vessel info/profile below your avatar, that would help.

I am working on a backup camera for mine now! Ideally, I want one that does not require wiring. Nonda/Zus makes one that looks pretty good and uses Bluetooth - I'm going to try this in the next few days (weather permitting).

I'll post pics and info soon.

I use some cheap action cams from ebay, they link to my tablet via wifi. Great for reversing into my berth.

I do not know the model of camera for your boat, but I use a rampage wi fi camera linked to my I pad. It creates its own WiFi so you don’t need a internet connection. It works pretty good and is completely wireless and battery lasts 4 hours. Although I think a wired camera setup is always best. Maybe a Raymarine with NMEA connections?

I was impressed with a system I saw on a 506MY

We are probably moving forward with a 466MY Carver

One facing backwards, one in engine room and one on each side

Just not sure if I need to get a new monitor as I have Furuno nav nat now

And exactly how to run the wires or is it all blue tooth.
Looking forward to meeting and talking to some people we meet

Heck I’m coming from a sailboat

You all know blow boat owners are Cheap! Lol :approve:

I bought a rear view camera for a truck, WIFI from cam to 7" screen and works great when going back in my berth.
Never thought of putting cameras in the engine room, good idea, thanks, On my way to the cam shop now
