Engine room reminder light

Postby pepmyster » June 4th, 2022, 10:18 am

So the engine light reminder indicator died . I found it’s replacement on Amazon . I took the black casing with green indicator for its replacement. Simple, just make sure of your positive and neg wiring. Blue is positive and yellow neg. Just use a clear varnish to touch up old scratches.

Nice job!

Mine is located at the fuse panel beside the switch which is OK however if the door is closed you can't see the light. I make it a habit now to keep the door open until I'm done working in the bilge.

You could put a washer behind the light to cover up the woodwork damage, maybe paint it black or use a pretty stainless one.
Cheers, Hans

What does that light indicate? Engine bay lighting? (I don't have lights there so this is new to me)

Yes, it’s a reminder that the engine lights are on.

Thanks,
I'll put that on my list of todo's too. The 2022 variant though: with a motion sensor and/or a timer function ;-)

I bought all replacement LED lamps to replace the neons on the electrical panel, half of which don't work. We're talking like around 50 lamps for which I bought a bunch of spares both AC and DC and will be using one to replace the engine room light indicator. One thing at a time!

What's the best way to describe owning a boat?

A never ending story comes to mind however I do love every minute of it. :captain2:

I replaced mine with a car alarm from an auto parts store LED. Side effect was it flashes. This is all the better for me as I would often leave the light on and my wife would be letting me know I left the light on again. See a 2 second video flashes red.
