Really Cheap Dingy Fenders

Postby Midnightsun » August 23rd, 2023, 1:53 pm

These are available at Walmart for $3.48 CAD. Knee pads in the gardening section. Made of closed cell foam so they will not take on water. Compact and easy to store. Used a ball bungee to attach to the handles of the dinghy. Can't go wrong for the price.

Nice, but any dinghy we have ever had was just a really big fender with an engine.....early on they just had oars..... ;-)
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

We were on the hook and at various islands for the last 2 weeks with the RIB. Must say these "fenders" exceeded my expectations in every way. Had the RIB tied perpendicularly up against my swim platform while on the hook or tied to a dock for the last 2 weeks, knee pads works wonderfully in all kinds of wave action. Great find even if I say so myself. :-D

They would have worked great in my situation as well. I had an aluminum trim around my swim platform that would rub black marks on the RIB. I bent two 5" fenders over the edge of the platform and tied them to the back of the platform to keep the dingy clear of that aluminum. I think the knee pads would have worked nicely and a lot less hassle.
