As they say B O A T Break Out Another Thousand. I will have to update my current year spending here soon. The funny thing is once you are out and about on the waterways the money spent becomes secondary to the fun and good times you are having.

I've had some amazing times both rowdy and peaceful. I couldn't put a price tag on that if I tried....priceless.

Well, we prepaid our summer slip last year to get a 10% discount, so this year's tally is pretty light:

Spark plugs - $40

Planning on replacing my engine start batteries though... just waiting on a good enough sale. Thought I was going to have to replace the choke thermostat, but since I couldn't find one for sale I took the original apart and found I just needed to re-stake the pivot. I did find out last week that my port thermostat will need to be replaced, so there goes another $11.95!!

My latest tally. So far no fuel but that is coming. Everything I have spent so far this year was a necessary expense IMO.

Total spent this year by us:

Dock fees $1260
Fuel and stabilizer $490
Swim platform repair $1200
Bottom paint $400
Minor gelcoat repair $100
Total $3450

We actually just re-listed the boat for sale because we are moving about an hour and half from the lake, starting a business, and my wife is pregnant... but we are both secretly hoping the boat doesn't sell an we "have" to keep it. We have some plans to replace carpet, paint the interior, and get new mattresses as well!

I feel like such a lightweight in this conversation. Paid for my slip fees last year, and with a lot of the spring prep stuff (polish, wax, cleaners, etc) I'm still using bottles that I bought a year or two ago. How much of that stuff do you guys go through??

Spark plugs - $40
New Engine batteries & accessories - $280
Used A65 GPS/Plotter/Fishfinder - $260 (replaces a LORAN/Fishfinder combo)
Total for 2017 - $580

Still have to replace my port thermostat though, so another $11.95 will be added soon (and maybe $8 for the gasket)

I find it interesting what slip costs are in other parts of the country. I feel lucky at $1700 for my dockage and I have a really nice slip.
