1997 355 Aft cabin central vac questions..

Postby benica » August 19th, 2023, 5:44 am

Question for 355 Aft cabin people with central vacuum system...
Electrical panel shows a breaker for the central vacuum system. Apparently system was removed or never installed.
Wiring is there though...breaker has the wires attached and routed into the harness with other wires.
My question...where would the canister had been mounted/located?
The ends of the wiring should be capped off somewhere near where the canister would had been....
There are no ports/holes that I can see where the vac hoses would have been connected when using...
Thank you!

Most have removed them and have replaced with some type of Dyson or similar as they perform better and are more convenient. You are looking for a square opening around 14" x 14" or maybe a little bigger. We converted the space after removal to a small liquor cabinet. Should be located centrally in the salon in order for the hose to reach all around. Carver used the WalVac brand which looked something like this. https://www.walvac.com/products/stow-a- ... tic-on-545

I cant say about your vac whither it was ever ibstalled or removed but i can tell you Carver did not always install the device that you may have a breaker identified in the electrical panel for. I also have a vac/spare in my 405's panel. The boat has never had a central vac .
