Removing Ice Machine Cabinet

Postby David Barclay » May 7th, 2024, 2:10 pm

I have a 1999 356 aft cabin. On the outside deck there is a
Cabinet that the ice machine use to be in. I would like to remove the cabinet. Some please explain to me how that cabinet comes out?

Why do you want to remove it? There's electric and plumbing in it. Replace the ice maker with an aftermarket one or put a door on it and have extra storage. The cabinet should be screwed to the deck and sealed.

I replaced my ice maker with a refrigerator. Probably the best improvement I've made to the boat.

If the box still gets cold the ice making components are basically the same as any whirlpool ice maker. I've swapped my ice mold and parts and kept mine going.

Interested in this too, same boat model.

I need to gain access to drain/scupper that is behind the port side icemaker cabinet , I think I need to rea caulk it , it is leaking. Impossible area to reach with the cabinet there. Does anyone know how to access that drain from inside the boat?

If you just need to take the icemaker out , it comes very east from the cabinet.

Unless that thru haul got cracked from an impact, I find it hard to believe it's leaking. Are you getting a water leak inside the boat? If so where? That being said, I would figure out how to make a long reach tool to remove that thru haul drain, it would be a two person job. Then again the cabinet may need to be removed and resealed, that may be your leak! Make sure the ice machine and sink faucet plumbing or drain isn't the source of your leak.

I want to remove the cabinet because the previous owner remove the ice machine. I would like to remove the entire cabinet so that I can fit a refrigerator in its place. It will take some cutting to make that happen. Back to the original question. How do I remove the entire cabinet?? How is it fastened to the deck???

Thanks,
David
