View the latest post 500 Cockpit motoryacht

New to Forum but long time boater
Gold Looper and multiple transits from Ohio to Fl etc.
Previously had aRegal 280,3207 Carver, Cruiser 3650 aft,(loop Boat) Cruiser 4450 aft, presently Cruiser 3670 for Lake Erie.
Looking at the Carver 500 Cockpit MY for a Florida and Bahamas boat.
Curious as to sea keeping abilities as the Cruiser 4450 was outstanding in all conditions.
We generally run 7-8 knots so rolling due to wakes and 2-3 ft waves are a concern. I would appreciate any feedback as to what I should expect as we are looking at 2 this week.
Fuel economy, true cruise speeds and fuel burn at cruise, top speed.
Slow speed, 7-8 knots fuel burn as well
Any of the Cummins to avoid or quirks in the 420 HP and 450 HP?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Good Karma

View the latest post Bilge Pump wiring diagram?

Replacing the FWD bilge in my 2000 350 Mariner and have discovered a rat's nest of wires. CLEARLY, it has been messed up in the past, so I am trying to get it back to the correct way. Does anybody know where I can find a wiring schematic for the bilge pumps? As best as I can tell, there are (2) brown wires, (2) orange wires and (3) black wires. One of the brown wires has been cut and there is nothing attached to it. One of the orange has a splice in it, with a black wire coming off of it. NO idea what they have going on here, but I could use some help. I have a replacement Rule 2000 pump and an Johnson Ultima switch to go back in. Any idea or thoughts?

View the latest post Engines won't start!!! Batteries?

Hi Everyone,

I believe I'm having an issue with where my batteries are drawing their power. Consequently my engines won't start...they just make a clicking sounds when turning over. I have 3 batteries...one is in the bilge where my port engine is. Tested and it has plenty of power. There are 2 other batteries in a row directly below the middle hatch between the two engines. One
I believe is sucking the power from the other one and engines aren't starting. One battery is brand new and the other was already in the boat when I purchased it last year. I am looking for any help as to why the engines aren't turning over. I'm guessing one of the batteries isn't holding a charge? I'm also curious as to what I'm supposed to set the knob in the salon panel for the batteries? Choices are Both, 1, 2, off. My next step is to perhaps take the 3 batteries to be tested to see if they are ok?

Thanks

Rick

View the latest post Optimal breaker panel settings?

I had a questions about what to leave on and off in the breaker panel when not using the boat to keep on-shore power costs down? I have a 350 Mariner. Boat does have an oven, microwave, coffee maker, icemaker, ac/heat, water heater, tv dvd etc...

Many Thanks!!!

View the latest post Dock Lines

Looking to replace my 3 year old dock lines. Googling the question, "Best Dock Lines" I got some direction. First nylon is the best line type of choice. Second twisted 3 strand then braided nylon. Well 3 strand twisted style lines are quite course in my book, where braided nylon it a lot smoother and softer. Next what is the optimum diameter and length to carry? The boat is 41' overall, and I have been running 25'-5/8" lines. The lines I presently have are braided ? (not nylon I'm thinking) and tan color and after a season or so they have gotten to leave your hands to feeling waxy after you touch them. Brought them home and thru them in the washer with mild soap and softener and thought that would help, but no same feeling. They are not hard or stiff, just leave this waxy dirty feeling on your hands. Now I question what diameter to get because the price per line from 1/2" to 5/8" jumps like $ 10.00 a line for the same length. Color, I'm thinking of going back to plain black so the UV rays don't seem to effect the lines as much as white and colored lines. Just throwing this out here for seasoned opinions and as always thanks! :captain:

View the latest post Crown head not getting water

Hi all, over winter the crown head failed to flush properly. The grinder makes noise and if I pour a glass of water into the toilet it will flush it down normally, but water does not enter the bowl as it normally does. The water pump is on and water flows from the faucets and shower normally. I’m not sure what to check? Thank you!
