View the latest post Carver 405/406 question

My wife and I are considering upgrading our 3807 to bit larger boat with diesels and different layout. We’ve looked at several brands and keep going back to a 405 or 406. We’ve only been on one and she says she remembers me having to duck down in the bedrooms and heads. I’m 6’2 and don’t remember that. As with most wives, her recollection is much keener than mine, but I wanted to get the right answer from folks who may own one. Can a 6’2” person stand up in those areas?
Thanks in advance (and I’m counting on ya’ll)
Vic

View the latest post Attachment(s) 1998 Crusader 350XLI EFI Hunting/Surging

Good Day All,

Recently finished a top end rebuild of the St'bd engine.

Heads replanned, valves replaced, new pushrods. All the normal things you would do.

Issue.
Engine starts and runs fine, after about a minute or so, it begins to fluctuate in rpm. Not what I could describe as running rough, just seems to be up and down in rpm. Unnoticeable on rpm gauge, but definitely not smooth.

Nice thing about twin engines is this is a spare parts locker a foot away.

Swapped out, throttle body, coil, whole distributor assembly. ECM.
Checked and confirmed anti siphon valve clear. Removed fuel cap, just in case. Changed all the fuel filters.

Confirmed no valve overlap.

Any thoughts??

It has the breather hoses up to spark arrestor. Do these engines have a PCV valve as well?

Has anybody had an issue with the throttle position indicator?

Sort of at a loss on this one.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Cheers, Capt Happy

View the latest post Revised Bilge Blower Discussion

I had my Carver 396 (gas) for 2 years now and the blowers have never worked correctly. I replaced all 4 blowers and the 4 relays and only 1 blower works.
The owners manual that came with the boat has a wiring diagram and it doesn't even show the 4 relays that are installed next to the blowers in the bilge.
I called 2 highly rated ( 5 star) mobile marine repairs services and was shocked to here they will not service Carver blowers.
What I would like to do is to simply have the switch on the bridge or the switch on the main DC breaker panel turn on all 4 blowers at the same time.
I have read all the articles on this forum on this subject and it seams there is a significant amount of confusion on how these blowers are meant to work.
Does any have experience changing the blowers to a more simple logical control system?
Thank you for any help.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Wrapping parts of my 3297

Hello friends,

I am super new here. I’m in the process of bringing my 1987 3207 back to life. I’m installing granite counter tops and marble flooring within the month.

Ok, so I’ve started wrapping parts of the boat in black.

I wanted to get your opinion on wraps…I figured if I enjoy my balt enough, when the time comes I’ll paint it black in the areas I have black…what’s everyone’s thoughts on that?

I’ve done the back, and because my swim deck was destroyed it’s being rebuilt, it will be black also.

I have a thick skin and can take the criticisms…thoughts on the wrap???

Kindly,
v/r,
Stephen
