View the latest post Attachment(s) Replacing Canvas

This project started quite awhile ago, with the realization that the canvas needs to be replaced. The first full season we had John Buoy, the aft-deck canvas didn't fit but it wasn't too bad. That winter we bought the sewing machine. Last summer the aft-deck canvas seemed to be even smaller and the repairs on the upper canvas were no longer holding. Over this past winter, we (I) watched the Sailrite videos, over and over and over again. We ordered our fabric, recacril. I already had the thread and other bits. Took apart the old, upper section, to pattern the new. We were up at the boat at the beginning of this week and did a test fit. Yeah!!!! it fits. Now to finish up the stern pocket before the long weekend.

View the latest post Attachment(s) MTI fume detector

I installed an MTI Gasline fume detector for the bridge, and have a second for the salon. I wanted to replace teh salon one into the electrical panel, but that means removing teh fridge. THAT is not happening! So I ran the wire up to the bridge in teh wire chase and under the console. However, it is about 7’ short. Whatta ya think of cutting it and extending it with the proper 18 Gauge wire from say West Marine?

That electric panel is pretty sealed. It is in an aluminum case, all wire clampsd so there was no snaking another wire in there.

View the latest post Attachment(s) 454xl leaking fuel

My port side 454xl leaking fuel from pump into fuel filter. Has anyone had to repair this? If so, was it more difficult to find the replacement pipe or the actual repair itself. Thanks for any replies in advance.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Restoring a 1981 Santa Cruz 26

Hello! My husband, Brett, and I never expected to become "yacht owners" in our 30s, but this 1981 Santa Cruz 26 came up for sale in our area and -- as you can imagine -- the price was right! It hasn't been on the water in over 10 years and we can't wait to change that soon. We're hoping to take the first test drive on a local lake next weekend and go on longer trips on Lake Michigan and Superior this summer.

We'd love to connect with others who've restored fixer-uppers, owners of similar models, and anyone with recommendations for routes around Door County and beyond. It would be great to have people to lean on and for us to help in any way we can as we learn more through the process.

Please feel free to follow along if you're interested in seeing the progress:

View the latest post Attachment(s) Carver 444 Prop Shaft

I have an issue with my port prop shaft . I pulled my prop to see a pretty deep wear groove happening. My ask is can someone with their 444 still out on blocks measure the distance between the back of the prop collar to the strut. I am attaching a generic picture to show where I would like the measurement. Thank you in advance

View the latest post Attachment(s) Voyager 530 wiper blades

My wiper blades are shot. They are 26 inches, saddle mount and must not be wider than .475 inches or 12mm. I can find 1/2 inch but I would have to grind the difference off. Any idea where I can find these rare Carver parts.

View the latest post 2005 Carver CMY 41 Cockpit hatch drain clogged

Hi everyone, I just purchased this vessel and the aft cockpit drain is clogged. Is there an easy access to clean the drain or should I just use a snake. Does a snake work? Thanks.

View the latest post Replacement impeller

Hello, I own a 1991 Carver 28 command bridge with crusaders 350's. What replacement impeller fits my boat? I purchased the Sherwood 10615-k . I was wondering if it would fit and recommended?
Thanks, Scott

View the latest post Repair wall covering

I have a 2000 396 aft cabin. Some of the vinyl wall covering is sagging (best description I can provide). Has anyone dealt with this issue and, if so, how did you fix it. Is it possible to fix the sags without replacing the wall covering? I should point out that I have limited skills. I guess I should have gotten vocational training instead of law school!!

View the latest post Stupid? question: Light switch for stern sitting area on Carver 3807

Hey all! This is probably a very stupid question, but I searched the forums and didn't find an answer. I just took possession of a 1988 Carver 3807! I'm both excited and terrified fort he adventures to come! Right now, though, I can't for the life of me find the switch for the two lights in the stern seating area, above the aft cabin, behind the upper helm. I see two lights in the hard roof there, but can't figure out how to turn them on.

Thanks in advance for any al all hints!!

Mark
