View the latest post Need a 12v+ when engine is running

Hi all, I own a 2000 350 Mariner with 7.4L Mercruiser. It may sound curious but I need to find a place somewhere (preferably at the helm) I will have 12v+, only when an engine is running.
I tought of the hour meters but they receive 12v+ as soon as the ignition key is ON.
Someone has an idea?
I want to install a buzzer that will activate if I loose an engine when trying to dock....

View the latest post Attachment(s) New owner

Hello all,

My offer was accepted on what appears to be a meticulously cared for 36 Mariner with twin Crusader 5.7's. Hopefully my observations will be confirmed after the survey. I'm retired and relatively new to boating. I'm selling my first boat which was quite an adventure. A 2004 Four Winds 268 Vista. Hopefully I've learned a few things and this one will be a better experience.

I also drive and maintain older classic cars as a hobby and find these forums to be a wonderful resource. I do what I can myself and leave the tough stuff to the experts. Looking forward to the journey.

Does anyone have any "model specific" issues that I should look for before we consummate the deal?

Thanks and Best Regards,
RyDrew

View the latest post Old exhaust system

I originally posted this in the general maintenance but realized it would be better here.

I just pulled the port Crusader 454 out of my 1993 carver 638 santego. My engine got hydrolocked and it appears I did some bottom end damage. Hoping to confirm it next week.

I am fairly confident the water ingress was from the intake manifold. I have always had water drain from tithe cockpit floor onto the cover of the carb but we had some major rain storm and it must have leaked enough water to fill a cylinder.

I am preparing for the rebuild and starting to think about replacing exhaust system or keeping the old ones. The exhaust ports on manifold, riser, and elbow are completely dry but I have every reason to believe they are original. I have a raw water cooled boat that has spent its entire life in Wisconsin boating on fresh water.

My mechanic said if they look good than it’s not worth the $2000 to replace. From everything I hear on the internet, it sounds like it is completely nuts to put 33 year old manifolds, risers and elbows on a freshly rebuilt engine. I don’t know how much I will be into the rebuild but I am assuming at least $5000, so I would love to save money where I can but the last thing I want to do is blow up the motor again.

I was hoping to get some opinions from seasonal fresh water boaters that have or haven’t replaced their exhaust system.

View the latest post Flybridge Water Supply on 2002 Carver 570 Voyager

I have recently purchased a 2002 Carver 570 Voyager Pilothouse, now named Crown Life Rocks!
The Flybridge has a sink with taps, along with Built-in Icemaker.
There appears to be no water supplied to either the taps or the icemaker. Before I start removing equipment, does anyone know if there is a water shutoof valve either behind the ice maker, or down below in the engine room?

View the latest post Where is the filter for the waste holding tank on 1988 Santiago?

Good morning,

We are looking to change the filter/cartridge to eliminate odor when flushing the head. Last thing to try, new head, new duck valve routine cleaning and pump out. We believe the holding tank is under the forward berth, assuming there must be a filter between head and holding tank. Could not find any information in the manual.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
ADDubo

Hi I am Tracie and my partner is Andy we bought our Carver 390 European two months ago with the idea to live and work on board whilst travelling around the UK.

We are first time boat owners and love our boat ScooBus (aka Scooby)

We are trying to sorce parts for her but it is hard so any help on that front would be good. We have just started going through the manual to find everything :) We are currently on hardstand on the river Medway.

We just wanted to say Hi xxx :captain:

View the latest post Attachment(s) Drain tube splash guard

2006 39my - I’ve been looking for this rubber fitting for two years. It located on the exterior near the window on the aft deck. I don’t even know what you call it. The attached picture may be coming in sideways. Any suggestions on what it is called and where to find a replacement? Much appreciated!.
