The "buttons" on the console for controlling trim are either frozen or never had any good feedback. What alternatives are there without modifying the panel? If modifying the panel, what are good robust weatherproof options?
Thanks!

View the latest post water in the bilge... Hmmm?
- Posted by: 650Guy » April 2nd, 2023, 8:25 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Ok, this is an odd one for me and am wondering your thoughts:
2003 Carver 396 aft cabin is my boat.
She was in heated storage for the winter and launched last week. The water temperature was 38F (these details will be brought up later)
A couple hours after launch I was checking my bilge pumps and bays, only to find water in the aft most bay near the drain plug. My boat has ALWAYS been dry as a popcorn... well, its dry! So this came as a bit of a shock to me to find water.
I used a hand pump to get as much water out of the bay as possible. water was not RUSHING in, by any means, but it was coming in. I would say it was growing at about 1/2 gal an hour. The next morning, the water was back and to a level where I believe the bilge pump had kept it overnight. I got a shop vac to completely dry the boat out and had sucked out a good 30 gal of water.
I was then with the boat for a good 3-4 hours and no additional water seemed to intrude or accumulate. I had to leave the boat, and will not be back for 3-4 days. (don't worry, my marina and friends are watching it for signs of trouble.
To add more details: no other area of the boat show any signs of water:
* All sea trainers were dry
* eng compartment... dry
* Fwd compartments .. yep dry
Here is my wonder
Could the rapid change in temperature (65f in the building to 38f water temperature) be enough to expose some issues with the drain plug? I don't believe there is any teflon tape on the plug but I'm guessing as I have never removed it or had the need as its always dry in there. My only thought is could expansion/contraction due to temperature played a small impact here where the drain plug (which is the only thing in the back area where the water was) played a part. Could 1 material not adjusted to the temperature change as fast as an another allowing the water to intrude and as it adjusted the leak stopped? seems far fetched to me, but about all I can think of.

Hey
Trying to locate circuit breaker for the interior not AC circuit. Just checked boat to get summarized and the AC circuit is working but the one for fridge, lights etc. is off. Was starting to track down, but don’t know where it is?

I have a similar one to this 53 quart version. The original was and still is marketed under the Alpicool name. This one is identical except it has a Vevor sticker on it. Even uses the Alpicool App to control it remotely. Good time to buy one before summer kicks in. Works very well and will freeze down to -20c if desired. We use ours more for additional fridge space but when vacationing on the boat we will turn it into a freezer. Had mine for 2 years now, no issues. Ours is plugged into 12vdc through a lighter socket although it will also work from 120 vac.

Good bye March, hello April! Launch dates around the midwest are not too far away. Looking at about 39 days for our area. Time to get serious about final spring prep, and stocking the bar. Tested my ice maker yesterday, works great!

- Posted by: Petemait » April 1st, 2023, 9:35 am

Does anyone know of a place where they can make canvas enclosures based off of patterns they have from making covers previously?
We are replacing our aft cabin canvas on our 2807 Riviera.
Considering doing it ourselves but if anyone knows of a good place with patterns that would be cool.
Any advice?
Thanks, Pete

Our 1998 325, maintained by 3 previous owners via the "open check book" method, shows beautifully and we have been enjoying her since July 2022.
We are now considering upgrading the aft deck with a fiberglass top (no top at all now), but not sure how to find one.
We're located in Portland at the Columbia River Yacht Club.

View the latest post Inline Fuse from Batteries to DC Panel
- Posted by: gmac98004 » March 31st, 2023, 4:52 pm
- Forum: Electrical
Hi Everyone,
I arrived at my boat today and discovered that although i have AC power, I do not have DC. Inverter screen is telling me my batteries are in float charging mode and I've tested the batteries to confirm they are at +-13.4v.
Ive read numerous topics on this issue. Is there indeed an inline fuse from the battery selector switch to the DC panel? If so where exactly is it? Cannot find it in my search!
Next step is to remove sliding doors and test/replace the DC main switch unless you all have some different sneaky suggestions!
Your help is always appreciated.
Cheers, Greg
