Project going well. However, before I move forward, is there an inside and an outside to O'Sea .040? Or it doesn't matter?

View the latest post AC Line 2 no power

I have a carver 450. I have 220v showing on the main panel, and everything on Line 1 works. But line 2 is dead.
I can't seem to find a breaker or fuse for line 2. Anyone have any ideas?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Installing fives elliptic portholes.

I got some fixed elliptical porthole windows (Bomar/Pomponette) from great Lakes Skipper. the original ones were getting tired in sealing from water. NO instructional sheet. I called Pomponette and they have none except a generic sheet of use a quality marine caulking between surfaces, single sheet. So i toss this out to you all.

There are a window pane, inner ring, outer ring and trim ring. By playing with these, I came down to this:

Install inner ring first, so it is caulked and go though the hull. It fastens with the tabs, so I would say pull back the rat fur to fasten.

Install the outer ring that slides over the inner ring that protrudes. Caulk around edges, and also around outer ring so when pushed in to the inner ring, all surfaces meet against sealant.

Place porthole on the outer ring against the rubber seal.

Place the outer trim ring on top of porthole window, then when fastened, the trim ring screws will go through the trim and outer ring.

Pics below, and all comments welcomed!

Best,

Tony

View the latest post Attachment(s) Carver Santego 2767 FOR SALE

Yes. Sadly, we are moving away from the water and we are putting our 1988 Santego for sale.

Located at a local marina in Lake Simcoe, Ontario. Contact me for views, starting as soon as the season officially starts (possibly by the end of April).

She has been well maintained and the previous owner did a good job with the interior, getting rid of the cabin carpet and installing water resistant laminate on the floor.

Asking $18800 (CAD)

More pics will be added soon.

View the latest post New-old Carver Monterey 2687 project

Hi all,
I am an inventioneer by nature and started out looking at boats of this size that weren't basket cases to recondition. All of the boats here are great lakes boats and probably haven't been in the salt. Most of the boats we looked at had big problems, mostly neglect. The Carver was owned by a marine mechanic and was in decent mechanical shape and had a newly rebuilt engine with a dyno sheet. He had been in an accident and needed to be in a smaller boat. I have been working on her for 9 months now and should be ready for the water in a couple months. Completely new plumbing, rewired everything, new helm seating and cabin cushions. Started over with a new camper top. All new electronics and had replica decals and striping to replicate the originals. New lonestar anchor winch. Solid boat all in all. The stern drive needs to come apart to check out and fix if needed. I own a tool and die shop and can design and fabricate almost anything so this has been a great diversion from the daily work. Hope to be able to contribute things of help to everyone.
Steve

View the latest post Lesson To Be Learned Regarding Proper Blocking

I have seen some pretty scary blocking used on boats on the hard. Here is a good example of a huge one that did not hold up to high winds. Hope all injured will be OK. Even the so called pros get it wrong sometimes. https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/hi ... d-26532125

View the latest post Attachment(s) Gas smell....355 Carver..

Now ventilated.
Floor boards removed...fans blowing.
Issues? Did not top off the tanks. 3/4 level each tank..
1 tank Port...1 tank SB...3rd tank....not seeing.
This boat has a fuel fill port at the swim platform steps area...right next to the shore power connectors....reserve tank.
Unless it's hidden under the aft cabin bed...
Where is your reserve tank located...355 Carver.
No fuel leaks at the engines...nose says...toward the aft tank...
Appreciate your telling me where to look for the reserve tank.
It's on a boat...can't be hidden. The original Carver book....not showing any location...
