View the latest post Attachment(s) Wet Floor?

We took down the canvas yesterday and went home. Carpet in aft cabin was removed a few weeks ago. When we arrived today, the aft floor hatches were wet. Scratching my head as to where this could have come from? VERY puzzling!

View the latest post Attachment(s) A Good Find - rope lights

While replacing all 3 of my Carbon Monoxide Alarms today (I believe the old ones were OEM Alarms) I found a toggle switch inside the front birth closet. Picture below (the picture should be rotated 90* CCW):

It took turning out all the lights and being in total darkness before the reason for the switch illuminated! There’s a rope light under the front birth bed! Picture below:

Maybe its like the C&W song “Pickup Man”, perhaps it puts off a “Romantic Glow”!!??

View the latest post Sewing canvas

Boat is away, canvas is polished and placed away. I still have 3 panels that need new clear Isenglass. I have had the canvas guy install O;Sea .040. So far love it.

The 2 panels that need it that I think I can do, are pretty straight forward and canvas is in super shape. Looks like ripping the stitching out, cutting new glass to the size of old (use old as a pattern) and stitching back in. Has engine done this? What did you use as a sewing machine? I see some on EBAY that look capable. Thread? any issues doing it as you see it?

Thanks for the input!

Tony

I’m new to the forum. My name is Jason. My wife and I have recently purchased a 2003 570 voyager . Does anyone know where the breaker or switch to power the davit is located on the 2003 570 Voyager pilot house?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Gas tank replacement 1988’ 3807

So I am going to replace my port side gas saddle tank. My plan is to move the engine and transmission and set it over the stbd engine. It looks like the tank sits about 5 inches lower than the stringer in somewhat of a fiberglass pan. If I disconnect wiring and remove the wiring trough on the underside of the salon floor, above the tank, it might give a couple inches of clearance once the tank is lifted. Has anyone ever removed a tank without cutting it? That’s not an option with a gas tank. Just seeing if anyone has thoughts before I get started. I’m getting to the age where I’ve got to do more “thinking” than “snatching and jerking”

View the latest post New member hello

Greetings boaters.
A new member here, long time boater with boats from fishing skiffs for salmon fishing -half moon bay to bodega bay. Cruisers and classics to 46’ even sail boats way back in the day.

Very pleased at this stage in boating life to acquire a beautiful Carver 355 with low hour Crusaders. Prior owners had her for 17 years. I’m just updating things and bring her back to sparkle!

It has amazing space and accommodations. Just had rudders dropped & repacked , serviced PPS shaft seals , bottom paint new batteries. Full maintenance on engines and generator. Stripes removed and being replaced on dodger and bridge, boot stripes done while out.

I’m sure questions will arise in which I will seek answers from you all. Photos coming soon if you like.

View the latest post Attachment(s) waring light identification

Howdy all, I have a 2004 Carver 564CPMY that I just picked up a few weeks ago. It has the Volvo D12 diesels with the diagnostic screen on the dash for each engine. The started went bad the day I picked up the boat, but it did start and ran 2 or 3 times before it went bad and everything ran fine. The mechanic replaced the starter last week and I am just getting to the boat today and this warring light is on. The problem is I have no clue what it mean. I have the carver manual but not the volve manual. The oil pressure and temps are good on the analog guages and on the Volvo data/service display on the dash. This light is coming from the little circle display above all the other switches and displays.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Canvas off

SInce we are looking at 70 degrees this weekend, I am heading down to remove the canvas and bimini. The yard usually removes it when they shrink wrap, but they do not handle with care. I have $12,000.00 worth of new canvas, and done want it hurt. Now, not sure of when they are shrink wrapping. SO, removing it after wiping with water to get dust off, then dry, then home for a coast of eisenglass polish. As for the boat being exposed….lWIll it help any if I cover the bridge console and seats with teh white canvas covers that came with teh boat? I will spray with Scotchguard to quasi water proof it. Just wondering if we get rain, will I get any inside the cabin? ALWAYS have a full canvas up. Opinions are surely welcomed!
