View the latest post TV Installation on 1994 320 Voyager
- Posted by: RichS » October 21st, 2022, 10:03 am
- Forum: Carver Yachts Forum - Model Discussion
Hello everyone! I have just purchased my first Carver...a 1994 320 Voyager Flybridge...and I LOVE it! My wife and I plan to spend a good deal of time on the boat. It did not have a tv installed when we purchased it. We'd like to add one in the salon as well as one in the cabin. I have looked everywhere for information on the best way, and location, to mount a tv in each of these locations on the boat but have been unable to find anything.
Any advice from others who have installed tvs in their 320's would be helpful and much appreciated.
Thanks!

View the latest post Attachment(s) E01 error Code on Salon hvac

- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
Background- New to me 1998 405 Aft Cabin, 7.4 Horizon engines. The previous owner replaced both forward and Salon HVAC units this year before my purchase. Installed Webasto units.
I noticed on night 2 of our trip bringing the boat home, the salon A/C unit (which also cools the master stateroom) stopped working during the night and had an E01 code. I did a quick Google search and found that it’s “Compressor High Pressure” fault. Likely fix recommendation was clean filter/condenser. I wrote that off as, add to the list.
Last night I turned the heat on and both units ran fine for awhile. Noticed master stateroom was cooler than salon. Well, the salon unit stopped and had the E01 code again. I let it stay off for 30 or so minutes, then started again. It ran for about 10-15 min then E01 code again. I checked water flow and same amount of water was coming out both port and starboard sides at the bow. I remembered our first night on the boat I only ran the salon A/C and had zero issues. So last night after it failed the second time I turned the forward system OFf. Then after 30 or so minutes I turned the Salon hvac unit on and it ran for about an hour without problem. This leads me to believe it’s NOT a clogged filter or coil, but a water flow issue.
I’ll check strainer again, but as I said the exit water flow looks good, but I have nothing to compare it to since this is my first boat with this system.
I searched this forum and found one string with same issue, but the result or fix was not posted.
Any recommendations??
Thanks!!

I thought Id ask the group before crawling all over my boat tracking down hoses... Transfer Valves. ... In the aft cabin closet there are 4 transfer valves. I cannot find in the 430 owner's manual which transfer valve is for which tank and they are not labeled. They appear to be OEM. Does anybody know which valve is for which tank? and which position they need to be in for normal operation?

I was just reading a recent post about changing the 'fuel fill lines' on a vessel and I would like to get your thoughts on an issue which I have not yet resolved.
A couple of months ago I posted about complaints from the Admiral regarding 'engine compartment' or 'fuel smell' in the salon. I got some very good feedback from the crew on this forum however, after doing everything that I can think of doing; the problem has not been resolved.
While winterizing the engines with my mechanic he noticed a slight 'wiff' of gasoline smell. We have been hunting down this issue since August and determined that this smell was gas vapors exhausting from the 'gas fill' cover vent.
We had a thought that perhaps there is a 'loose' connection or some area between the interface of the gas fill neck and the fill hose. Perhaps something is going on with the gas fill itself and this might be the cause of fumes escaping into the transom and working their way forward into the salon. On my Mariner the access to this from the 'inside' of the transom is impossible.
I have never changed a fuel fill neck and don't know if I would need that kind of access, but would do anything to try to alleviate the issue fror next season. Does our idea of some malfunction in this area even make sense?
All thoughts about this are appreciated.

Hello everyone! My wife and I are on our 4th Carver this year. Our first was a 1987 3207 with 350 Mercruisers , then a 1989 4207 with 3208 Cat’s, then a 1993 350 Voyager with Volvo diesels and now a 1992 Carver 36 aft cabin with Volvo 740b gas engines.
Love Carver yachts, they have the most room compared to any other make of boat on the water!

- Posted by: AlexB » October 18th, 2022, 9:09 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Hello All
I am a relatively new owner of a carver, had it for a year.
I decided to winterize the boat myself this year as I was not happy with the job done and the price by the marina mechanics.
If you could look over the steps I am planning to do and make corrections, I would greatly appreciate it.
I have a 1992 Carver 33 with 2 Crusaders 454 FWC.
Here is my plan:
Engines:
Close both seacocks, take the hose from a seacock and stick it into a 5 gal bucket with pink antifreeze. I am going to be using -100F antifreeze. Start the engine and wait till pink is coming out of the exhaust. Shut off the engine. Then take out the spark plugs and spray fogging oil into each cylinder about 5 secs for each. Put the spark plugs back in.
And with that I think the engine is winterized. I was thinking to do an oil change and change oil filter but it was suggested that I do it in the spring when I am ready to commission the boat.
If you have any comments on this PLEASE let me know, as this is the scariest part of the winterization, at least for me.
AC:
I have 2 AC's on this boat. So I will close the seacock and stick the hose from the seacock into a bucket with pick stuff. Turn on one AC at a time and make sure pink is coming out the side. I am thinking that's it for the AC's.
Water System:
Open all the faucets to drain both water tanks. Then pour about 10gal of pink stuff into the water tank and open one faucet at a time till the pink stuff is coming out. Do the same with shower and toilets. Then pour about two gallons into each toilet and flush.
I have one question here, if I turn on the hot water faucet on without having the water heater on will it drain the water heater? And how do I make sure that the water heater has the pink stuff in it.
Thanks in advance
Alex

View the latest post 1974 Carver Monterey 2585 Restoration
- Posted by: Carver74 » October 17th, 2022, 3:52 pm
- Forum: The Project Center
Hi everyone,
New to the forum. I just purchased a 1974 Carver Cabin Cruiser for $2500. I believe it is a Monterey, number 2585. It’s equipped with a Ford 302 and Mercruiser MC-1 outdrive. The engine runs and upholstery is in “decent” condition. The boat was last in the water 10 years ago and has been barn stored ever since. I know these hulls are balsa cored, which concerns me slightly. However this boat seems to have solid stringers, floor, and hull. Only time will tell if that is the truth. I will be restoring the boat this winter with my brother. It needs some interior upholstery work, teak restoring, re-wiring, and outdrive replacement/rebuilding. I plan to document my restoration on this thread and upload photos along the way.
Question for you all: Does anyone have any experience with this hull or have any knowledge to share on these types of Carvers?

View the latest post Tune up needs another going over

Brought the old gal up the river to winter storage. Ran great, or so I thought. Started fine, idled supreme and moved along at 3,000 perfectly. I thought I would give a burst of WOT and that is when bad stuff happened. Port engine went up to 3950-4000. About normal with the full tankage and weight. Starboard stumbled between 3200 and finally made it up to 3700 but was misfiring, so I backed it off. I replaced new plugs (NGK was in there) new Quick Silver wires and cap. I wires are close together, but small wire separators. The wires weren’t what I thought as for a full custom set. Just 4 short wires and 4 Long, so the long ones dangle some. Ran great at speed before tune up. Starboard engine ran fine, just on teh 1200 hour port. Thinking of checking wires for proper placement, but I replaced 1 at a time. I usually dont do an entire tune up at once. I usually do plugs, then run it to see if there is a proble, then cap, then wires. Starboard cap was worn badly on inside, but port looked almost new. Ideas?
