Hi all, New to this forum. Looking for any advice. My ignition alarm is beeping when i turn the key on. It was a long beep but now it is a repeating beep that quits when engine starts. 1995 330 mariner 5.7l closed cooling. Thanks for any reply.

View the latest post Attachment(s) New fuel line - solid to braided

Hi all,

I had to replace a fuel pump on my 454XLs and during that change the solid fuel line from the fuel filter to the fuel pump must have flexed and developed a hairline crack where the steel rolled together. That part for my 1994 motor is no longer available. So I went to a hose fabricator joint and they made one out of braided stainless. I put it on, checked and ran the motors with no leaks or issues that I could tell. Anyone have any gotchas to watch out for? I plan on replacing the other one on the starboard engine too has I suspect it may have a similar condition or could soon.

View the latest post Engine 'odor' in the salon

I have a question for the crew regarding an odor created by the heat/oil/moving parts; the general smell created by running an engine at 3400 rpm's for a while. Do any of you get complaints from guests of a smell?
The admiral and indeed others complain about the 'smell of gas', however there is absolutely no fresh gas leak. I believe it's the general smell of the engine compartment. I never run with the doors open and know there is no 'station wagon' effect.
On the Mariner, the steps leading to the salon have a hydraulic lift for access to the forward engine compartment. I inspected the area that 'seals' the salon from the engine compartment and noticed 'daylight'. I went ahead and filled in those areas with rubber gasket. I hope this will help.
Additionally, I keep the compartment pretty clean and change out any foul 3M oil sweat rags.
When running today the Admiral said she didn't smell anything when she first went below. I think that's because we were doing our 14 knots and I always run the bilge blowers when under way. I think the compartment must clear out under those conditions.
Does anyone have a similar issue on their boat? Do you do anything to mitigate the smell?
After going someplace do you guys open the engine hatch and get hot air out and fresh air in?
All thoughts are appreciated.

View the latest post New Carver owner from Australia

Hi to all, and thanks for letting us join.

We are Ric and Belle from Kingscliff, NSW, Australia.

We are just about to become the proud owners of a 1989 Carver 34 Santego. Survey and engine checks done, a couple of small repairs finished and anti fouled. Hoping to sea trial next week and expect to settle shortly after. First boat for us so i feel we should apologise in advance for a couple of stupid questions that will undoubtedly come.
We have been reading the forums for a while and have already learned a lot, but have a long way to go.
Thanks again
Ric & Belle

View the latest post Fresh Water Leak in bilge

2004 460 Voyager owner. I'm stumped. I constantly see 1 or 2 inches of water in my bilge. When I turn on the "pressure water pump" and leave it on, It'll empty out the fresh water tank in one day. Likely into the bilge. The Aft bilge pump then pumps it out. However, when I connect to dockside water and turn the pump off, the bilge has much less water in it. I have a Siren Marine system that tells me when the pump goes off, so I know when it cycles.

Any ideas as to how I go about finding the leak source? I'm aware that many times it's the water heater, but why doesn't it leak when connected to dockside water?

View the latest post Anchor Light

Hey there everyone.
I was on the 'hook' and when I turned on the anchor light I did not get 360 white but just 180 aft light. When I switch to running, aft white stays and forward red/green power on.
Do you know if there are 2 bulbs in the mast?
I don't know if its a switch or bulb issue.
It will be good info to have prior to breaking out a ladder to get up there .
Also, are you guys replacing these bulbs with LED or keeping the original incandescent.
My vessel is a 2005 Mariner..
Thanks.

View the latest post Attachment(s) VDO Gauges

Looking to replace my temp and oil pressure gauges. They are getting finicky, as to tape them and they move the needle. I have cleaned terminals already. I saw a direct replacement for the oil, but all the terms auger are different looking. Will I need new sender units with these?Original shown, then the replacements I saw. Temps are different.

Oil Pressure gauge I found. Seems like same as I have.

View the latest post Impellor replacement on 456 port engine

Does anyone know the best way to access impellor on port engine (cummins 450 diamond series). (456 motor yacht). Starboard is easy and very accessible but port is away from walkway between engines. Thinking of removing cover off belt and accessing from front of engine.
Thanks

View the latest post Twin Disc contols

I’m looking for any input for replacement engine contols . We currently have twin disc electronic contols on our 530 and 3 times now they stuck and totally lost control of starboard engine , had to go into engine room and smack actuator box and starts working again. I’m looking at ZF mathers ? Glennding ? Sea star ? Everything is discontinued and no parts available for twin disc . Any advise or recommendation would be great .
