View the latest post Attachment(s) 1994 330 Carver Mariner A/C condensation pan over flowing

My A/C condensation pan is over flowing and is messing up my floor in the galley. I pulled out the galley sink and can't find a drain hose. People have told me that the drain goes to the shower sump. As far as I can see, mine doesn't drain to the shower sump. The forward and star board sides of the pan has plugs. The drain hose must be on the aft or port side of the pan. I am not able to see the aft or port side of the pan without removing the galley counter top. Removing the counter top would require removing the galley stove and disconnecting some wiring. It looks like a major job. I have tried putting vinegar and hydrogen per oxide in the pan without any luck. I have also removed the water with a wetvac. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a fix that I am not seeing?

Thanks,

Johnnie

View the latest post Attachment(s) 3607 Aft deck coverage

We currently have a soft top over the aft deck on our 3607. Before we moved it to Kenora, it was stored indoors and the aft coverage didn't have to come off. We obviously had to remove everything to move it from Gimli to Kenora and ever since we have not been able to get the top on properly. Our marina also requires us to remove that structure in the fall to be able to wrap for the winter. Our plan it to replace all the canvas on top so I am looking for other ideas for the structure. I would almost prefer to wallpaper with hubby instead of removing this structure!! Does anyone have a "hinged" system similar to the one over the helm? What other options are there? I have attached a couple of photos showing what we have. The "fabric" is more of a vinyl/plasticy thing!

View the latest post Fresh water tank overflow

We have a new to us 466 and the fresh water tank gauge does not work. Until we get it fixed can someone tell us how to tell when the tank is full, there is a statement in the owners manual that says don’t overfill. On our last boat we just filled it until it ran out the fill hole. Thanks for any help.

We're getting ready to install a new Davit system on our Carver 355 and was inquiring about the construction of the platform. Is it a solid wood core or a hollow core?

View the latest post No 120v power on port side

I have a 1991 634 Santego and lost all 120 volt power to the outlets on the port side. All the breakers are on and there is power going thru the breaker. I suspect that there is a GFI plug hidden somewhere. Does anyone know where the GFI's are on one of these boats? I just bought it last year and am still learning. I know there is one by the sink on the starboard side and that is the only one I can find. All the plugs work on the starboard side so I think they are on one circuit and the port side is on the other circuit. I have two breakers for outlets.

View the latest post Attachment(s) #1156 replacement LED's blow fuses (?)

Hello,

This has me baffled. My old Santa Cruz has all kinds of original fully functional cabin lights - each the standard 1156, 12 volt bulbs and switches that work perfectly. However, when out on the water (like Voyagers Nat'l Park on the border with Canada last week), I am always paranoid about waking up to dead batteries if using the interior lighting in the evening. (One can not paddle 7 thousand pounds of boat 25 miles back to the landing...)

So, despite the ridiculous price of $15 per bulb for LED's, I was enthused to replace the old incandescent bulbs with all LED's (in the 38 year-old fixtures, that take the same bulb base configuration), to benefit from about a 10-fold decrease on battery demand. But, surprise! The lower amp draw LED blew the fuse in the first bulb I installed. And then again, and again. So I assumed I had a bad bulb and bought more, and tried it first in a different fixture. Same thing, immediate blown fuse - not even a twinkle of light, just blew a 10 amp, then a 15, then a 20 amp fuse.

What is going on? This makes no sense.

Thank you in advance for any ideas.

~ Mark

We’ve got a two overnighter planned for Sunday and Monday night at a boat in campground. Bought the cuddy specifically for boat camping and this will be our first chance to use it as such. The family is really looking forward to it!

View the latest post 1994 440 MY potential purchase

Hello Carver fans!

We love the Carver layouts and have been looking at several. I have the opportunity to get a '94 440 for a decent price. We boat fresh water inland lake and don't do too many hours on boat annually. We are moving from a '97 Silverton 360 Express to this potential 440. This is gas powered (not my preferred but what is available) w/ 454Xl Crusaders sitting at 780ish hours. For context, I've put 300 hours on my boat in the last 10 years so not high hour usage.

*IF* the boat stays healthy, happy and performs well, we *might* consider hauling to the coast to do east coast or possible loop with it. I fully understand gas motors will be the weak link so we'd make that decision in 2-4 years.

As we move into the detailed survey, sea trial, etc. I'm looking for the wisdom of this crew on any known issues with the 440 to investigate. Is there anything current or former owners loved/hated about the boat we should be specifically aware of? I'd love any wisdom you could share.

Thanks!

View the latest post Attachment(s) What is the oldest glass boat you have bought RECENTLY.

So the title kinda explains it, but I got to wondering how far back you can go and still not rebuild the entire structure. This meaning stringers/tanks etc. How are these boats holding up. Obviously it would matter who owned them but in general how are they withstanding abuse.

We were talking the other day ( the boss and I , she said no !!!! ) and I am now perhaps considering a 28' Riv or Mariner from the 80's, probably the riv ( easy trailer )....kinda like going back in time... :-O ,,..something to run thru the Trent, back and forth.......now I know these hulls real well as we had them but it has been a very long time. Maybe just an idea/pie in the sky from not boating for a while and next month we will come to our senses..... :-D

Let's hear some opinions on " Can you go back".......

View the latest post Attachment(s) A couple of questions

Does anyone know what the three holes are used for at the back edge of the swim deck (circled in red) ?
(Hopefully the picture is attached).

Also, how or does the shade/screen unlatch from the forward hatch? Mine will not unlatch. The surveyor noted this as a safety concern in case of an emergency egress. (Hopefully a picture is attached for this too).

Thanks in advance for replying.
