View the latest post Survey Results

Currently under contract to purchase a 2000 450 Voyager and survey was just completed this week. Purchasing from the second owner and he's only had it 8 months. He bought it in OH and moved it to FL. Has the 480 TAMD74P motors.

A couple of issues came up and looking for input from this group.

1) Starboard engine has no hrs counter. Port does and shows 1020 hrs and the owner says they both have the same hours. Weird? Surveyor says not all that uncommon but not normal.

2) Trans oil samples show high sodium, aluminum and chromium. Analysis says high sodium is salt water, (boat is in FL) coming in from somewhere. Aluminum could be torque converter, gear and/ or vine pump. Chromium could be ball and or rolled bearings. Odd part is both sides showed almost the exact numbers of each. Both are original to the boat and, according to the owner, have never been touched. These are ZF 280A transmissions.

Thoughts?? Thanks

View the latest post Ignition Module needed - Mercury 431 Gas Engine

Hello. I have a 1991 Carver 530 Montego with Volvo Penta 431 engines.
The ignition module burnt out. The engine serial number has worn off.
There is no part number or other identifying marks on the ignition module.

My local dealers tell that there are 24 or more variations in the ignition modules for that motor.
Any recommendations on how to find a replacement?
Thanks.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Original 2002 Carver 570 Parts for Sale

Hello All!

I have a ton of used parts from my 2002 Carver 570. My engine room was left in impeccable condition and have a bunch of OEM parts with low hours. Twin Disc Transmission, AC Unit, Generator, Water Heater, Anchor Windlass, Props, Shafts, Shaft Seals, Struts, Rudders, Trim Tabs, Searchlight, Transformer, you name it-- I should have it. I also have original door handles, porthole windows, drawers, light switches. Don't have much left from flybridge and above as those parts were sold.

Just want to make sure other Carver owners get to enjoy whats left from my boat.
Would HATE to have to scrap these parts!

View the latest post Crusader Hoses

I posted some hoses I bought new in 2020 for a Crusader engine. I sold my Carver in 2020 and they have been sitting in conditioned space. I plan to list them on EBay soon but thought I would put an ad here in the boat parts section first. There is also a thermostat, a Kohler 7.3 oil filter and impeller.

Here is the ad viewtopic.php?f=30&t=6803

I only post this here in the engine section to give this community first shot at them if anyone needs them prior to posting on EBay. Like me, most probably don’t go to the ads section unless they are looking for something.

If this violates the rules, then mods are welcome to delete it.

View the latest post 1991 Carver Montego 525??

Hello everyone, I have an opportunity to buy a 1991 carver Montego 525. It has some mechanical issues but that's of no concern to me. Has a 5.7 Merc that most likely needs a rebuild. I am totally new to the boating world and this would be my first boat purchase should I pursue it.
Wondering if anyone out there has had one of these models and pros/cons to owning this model. Been having a hard time finding info on this one. Also what other areas would be a common concern when inspecting it?

Thanks for any and all advice in advance..

Dave

View the latest post Attachment(s) 97' 355AC Bedding and Curtains etc.

Hi all. We own a 97' 355 AC and over the past three years we've redone the interior decorations to something current. When we bought the boat we came into possesion of the origianl bedding comforters fitted for the aft cabin and forward berth as well as curtains etc. The bedding is brand new and never used. The curtains we pulled down and are in excellent condition, never had a smoker in the cabin. I've attached a picutre of the pattern. We're going to hang on to it for a couple weeks and then donate it if no takers here. If you have any interest please message me. My location is Sturgeon Bay Wi.

View the latest post Attachment(s) SIDESHIFTER getting closer to reality

Today I found a space under the forward berth to hold the two batteries for the Sideshifter. Only a 4’ cable run. I am going to use one of the storage drawers below the berth to house the solenoid, switch, etc. I have used a piece of AZEK mounted to the inside of teh draw unit, and have it sitting on teh chine. I also took a piece of AZEK and cut it at a 30 degree angle. I am going to 5200 it to the interior of the hull for safe keeping. Also, got the control mounted on the helm as well. Pretty tough to get it in there as real estate was at a premium. However, one step closer. ALso, organized and too a lot of stuff off. Move. in next weekend.
