View the latest post Attachment(s) 1988 Carver Voyager my old/new boat

Hello

I sold this boat 8 years ago as I got tired of the yearly and other maintenance - always do everything myself and my kids were not using it much. I regretted it almost immediately as my kids shared all the memories at family gatherings. So the new owner called me a month ago as I requested he would if he ever sold it and he is basically giving the boat to me, as he hasn't used it in 3 years and he is getting on in age . I checked it out and it looks like the day I sold it nut a bit moldy on the closed cabin. So I am needing some Clorox spraying.

Anyway I couldn't be happier having this back. I got a slip right next to my son's boat and very close to my Contender. Picture in my old slip they week I sold it. This is at Hayes Haven Marina on the CT River in Chester CT. I live in nearby Higganum, CT.
Other picture in Greenport (NY) on our first trip in 1988 when the kids were kids. The boat is Waterfriends 4 and the Registration number is one. That should tell you how old I am. ;_-)

1. How do I post a picture..if allowed?

Thanks, Bob

View the latest post Attachment(s) Any new ideas to keep eisenglas from burning on the Bimini rails?

On my third set of eisenglass in the sunbrella in 14 years. I can't seem to get past the metal burns.
I've used the small plastic standoffs.
I've used armaflex plumbing insulation.
I've used pool noodles
I've seen advertisements on sunsox, but that seems to be the same thing as a pool noodle.

Anybody have a better solution?

View the latest post 13 year owner, 1st Post - River to Gulf Q's

hello all, been an owner a while but taking my 2002 carver mariner 350 down from TN to the GOA.

I have only put 400 hours on it in 13 years and had many things replaced. But is there anything a GOA newbie like me needs to know or have looked at/repaired before I start the trek?

Also I will be keeping it there permanently and not taking it back to freshwater.

Thank you in advance!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Bad Gell Coat

The gentleman from whom I purchased the boat has dementia, and he tried to explain to me that he thinks the last time he got the boat painted, they used regular car wax/gelcoat, and that's the reason it's failing badly. Does this make sense to anyone?

I just want to get it taken care of so it doesn't get worse. I paid to get it detailed, thinking they would sand it down and it would take care of it, but it did not.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

View the latest post Bypass sea water for head

Hello everyone
Had a great weekend on boat But the sea water for the toilet let's sea creatures in. Little worm like creatures that like to crawl up the inside of the toilet. I was able to keep this from my wife this time. Is there a way to hook up to the fresh water from the hose while in the dock.
Thanks in advance
Geo

View the latest post 355 house batteries

Hi, new member with 1998 355 twin 7.4L MPI w/Kohler gen.
Only have 2 group 31 DC batteries and small starting battery for generator, don’t think the 31’s are going to be enough for 4 days without dock or generator, where, and how, to locate more batteries in engine room?
