View the latest post Water Inlet/Regulator Replacement
- Posted by: wsp2 » April 11th, 2025, 3:18 pm
- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
I need to replace the water inlet, but unfortunately the replacement is slightly larger than the previous one. Jabsco for some reason decided to replace the old style which needed about a 3 1/8" hole with one that's about 3 1/2". I have a couple of questions I'm hoping I can get some feedback on:
- I was thinking about using this method to drill a larger hole: https://youtu.be/vOUfFaIJUqo?si=wP9k6RR7aC-3mwpc. The transom where the inlet is has fiberglass which is about 1/2" thick. Will this method be okay to enlarge the hole?
- Will I need a diamond or carbide tipped drill bit, or will a bi-metal one work okay on the fiberglass? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-3-1-2-in-Hole-Dozer-Hole-Saw-49-56-9641/202327759
- Regarding the plumbing part of this, is it okay to attach the inlet to any cold-water pipe? It appears the inlet pipe had broken off and was capped off somewhere, so I'm not 100% sure where it originally was fed into the system. I'm thinking it was attached to near where the cold water faucet is on the aft shower.
Thanks for any input! Boat is a 1995 440 aft cabin.

Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone used the product Airlock ionizer to keep their boats smelling fresh and clean? Keep seeing their ads and read the reviews. Seems very impressive, hoping to get firsthand knowledge.
Thanks
Have fun and be safe

Hi
My 2001 Mariner 350 needs some internal repairs on the sofa. Trying to find the a source for the vinyl material ie a colour match for the original Carver colour swatches.
I'm in Ontario Canada so any local sources appreciated if you know some...
Thanks!

- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
My 04 366 strbrd engine developed a small leak. Marina says it’s the oil pan but not enough room to change it out with out pulling the engine which they also don’t think they can do. I asked if they can just lift the engine up enough to change the gasket without fully pulling the engine. They said they’d have to build something to do that. Anyone run into this issue yet? Any suggestions? And yes, I’m seriously considering just putting pads down and checking levels at every start up but I’d prefer to deal with it properly if at all practical.

Hello Everyone
Just bought a 1988 3297 Mariner and have to say we love it. We own a Grady that we keep in Jersey and Caver will be kept in Maryland on the Chesapeake. Spent our 1st weekend on it and couldn't be happier, had plenty of space and everything we needed for my wife and I . Will be getting to know all of you and pick a few brains on the way.
Have fun and be safe

Doing some minor touch up. Paint is Interlux Bottomkote. The paint I have is goopy & thick, so I assume it is getting bad. Will not thin out when stirring. Can I just add some Interlux 202 thinner to it to bring it back? Just doing small areas to touch up where lift straps scraped away. Thanks in advance.

Just finished up the purchase of a 1999 406 Aft Cabin. Going to get it hauled out on Monday to get bottom paint and send the props to get balanced. Have a list of a few things to get done but nothing major. Pretty clean boat for 26 years old. Lots of great information on this site. Glad I got the Carver!

- Posted by: KuyaJunGarage » April 3rd, 2025, 8:16 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Hey everyone hoping someone had the same issue. After a 9 hour trip on the Carver I connected my rear shore power to the marina and when i flipped my breaker i saw my voltage at 220 for a second then pfff no power. No external circuit breakers tripped but some of these are the original breakers that i know of
So I pulled out my voltage meter to read the voltage on my “AC Selector Switch”. Anyone know where to start or had this issue before?
I do get power with front shore power port and that is working fine.
Many thanks in advance.
