View the latest post 1987 3207 sliding window glass

Can anyone tell me how to remove just the glass panels ( sliding pieces ) from my newly purchased 3207 fixer upper. I have studied and can not figure it out yet. I was hoping to just lift each panel up in a deeper top track and move the bottom out of the lower track to remove. Not so in this case and I suppose I can understand that these panels could make there way out in the same way on rough water......Who knows ???

Thanks

View the latest post Attachment(s) Onan MCCK impeller change

Hi all,

I have a 1990 MCCK J series genset. I successfully removed the 4 screws from the impeller cover but the cover is frozen and I can't get it off. I sprayed it with penetrating oil and I will have another go at it tomorrow. I've had the boat for about 18 months now. I have no idea when it was changed last. I'm thinking about a rubber strap wrench.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Barry

View the latest post Attachment(s) Lifepo4 Batteries

Well I decided to take the leap to lifepo4 batteries. Probably going to need a bunch of advice so please jump in.

Lithium has come down to a some what reasonable price and the tech is now much more feasible in all respects.

Why Lifepo4? longevity is supposed to be 10 years plus. They can be drained to zero with no ill affects or voltage drop which means a 100ah battery actually has 100ah. They charge at full rate from zero to 100% basically on a bulk charge with no absorption phase which usually takes forever to get our standard wet cells to 100%. Discharge cycles are quoted as 2000 plus.

Enough of my babbling, read this. https://www.power-sonic.com/blog/lithiu ... batteries/

Will be using dual 300ah lithiums for a total of 600 usable AH which huge yet will only weigh in at about 68lbs each.

Unfortunately lithium is not all that good for use as stating batteries so those will remain the same. My 3 bank charger will service the 2 engines and my generator however the dedicated generator charger will be removed and replaced with a true dedicated lithium charger.

Still need to figure out how to handle the alternator Lithium issue but a call to Sterling should get me on the right track.

View the latest post Carver 3326

Just picked up a 1980 Carver 3326. What engines did Thea e come with? They look like a Ford engine? Got it for next to nothing but the starboard engine over heats at higher speed. At idle in the slip it is ok.

View the latest post 444 Performance Questions

I’m having a pre-purchase marine and engine survey done on a 2006 444 CPMY next week. Does anyone have performance information on this vessel with the Volvo D-6 370 Diesel engines? I’m interested in:

(MPH, RPM & GPH)
Hull Speed:
Best Cruise:
WOT:

Also, anything specific I should look for during the survey (or general opinions of this boat) specific to this model and power plant?

Thanks in advance!

View the latest post Hynautic 50 upper helm feels off - crunchy for lack of a better term

Hi all - We have a Hynautic 50 helm on our 1985 3607. The upper helm was feeling off , the movement wasn't smooth more of a crunch every couple of degrees. The marina topped off the hydraulic fluid and made sure the air pressure was correct. This didn't fix the issue so we had them swap the lower helm pump with the upper. My question to the group is - would a rebuild help or if not what would be a replacement since they are not made anymore ?

Thanks in advance

View the latest post Attachment(s) Idle Air Control Valve

Hi all,
After replacing the fuel pump on my starboard engine injectors had a much better pattern but engine would still stall as soon as put into gear. After mechanic inspection he identified the source of stalling as the Idle Air Control Valve
20210811_102454 (2).jpg

I'm having trouble sourcing the shown part and the only number I can find is on the unit itself: 59559 (and directly under that number is: C0244&)

I did find a part @ AutoZone that looked the same at first glance, tried it and after ECU tried to map it idled at 1250rpm.
Wasn't an exact match it turned out - so I took OEM part to NAPA and they found a part in their warehouse that looked identical but showed fitment exchange for 88-92 vehicles that mostly had 6 cyl. motors not V8. Gonna give it a try, but hoping someone here has some insight into sourcing the actual replacement.

Also, I was told yesterday that when that part gets replaced that a process of adjusting the idle speed is necessary, but no indication of how to do that in a TBi setup. Anyone that can confirm that?

One other question - is it worth the effort to try using some PB Blaster to free up the mechanism on the old control valve?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Mark
