I have 4 switches on my dashboard. Two of them I can read and two are wore to the point they are unreadable. Does anyone know what they do? Also, do you know where I can order new ones with the correct labels?

Does anyone know the part number(s) for the impeller kit for the Mercruiser 350? Additionally, how challenging is it to replace myself vs. the marina shop?
Thanks for any input

- Forum: Introduce Yourself!
Hello all -
I am in my 70's and just recently purchased a 1988 Mariner 3297 with 600 hours on it. It is in excellent condition both inside and out and I am still learning where everything is located. I previously owned a 1979 Trojan Tri-cabin that I purchased new.
The Tri-cabin was 36' and the Mariner is 32' so a bit of a difference there. The biggest problem I am having in making the transition is the transmission control levers. The Trojan had a very small "throw" distance between forward and reverse and the Carver seems to be about triple that amount which is taking some getting used to - especially in tight conditions around the marina. Both the throttles and the transmission controls seem to be a bit stiff to operate. I have been told that the "throw" can be changed if they are a certain type of control. Going to check on that. I am also used to standing at the helm station when leaving the slip and docking and that is very impractical with the Carver due to the long throw.
Another issue is that the helm station is very far forward compared to the Trojan which makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to see the stern when I am backing out of the slip. Thinking about installing a camera above the sliding door to allow me to see that area.
I have been reading a lot of posts on the forum about similar boats just to see what others are experiencing and learning a lot. I don't seem to have some of the issues commonly reported for which I am grateful. I have been cruising at 3,000 RPM and getting about 17 MPH. The boat seems to pop up on plane with no issues like my Trojan did.
All-in-all I am very satisfied with my purchase and look forward to many happy hours on the water here on Lake Michigan. I am not good at working on boats so I doubt I will have much advice to offer. But I will gladly listen to others who are knowledgeable and pass along their wisdom if needed.

Hi All. Used to be a bayliner boat owner. Now purchasing a carver which brings me to my question. Would you guys buy a 1992 carver montego 528 boat that hit a rock and requires new sterndrive bravo 1 or 2? Boat is clean and good condition besides cracking the sterdrive. Needs upper lower and transom. So basically new sterndrive. Price 6,000. Your expert advice will be much appreciated.

- Posted by: Triwing » June 8th, 2021, 2:01 pm
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Hello, new Carver owner. Just bought a 95 355 aft cabin. Starboard engine want running after previous owner did a "tune up". Found firing order wrong. Fixed that, now it starts and runs, but not very well. Found huge vacuum draw on breather tubes going to the flame arrestor. Lots of smoke coming from exhaust. I seem to have a huge vacuum leak into the crankcase. Suspeting the intake. Any other suggestions?

- Forum: Electronics & Navigation
I have a 2002 Carver 506 Motor yacht. It has a camera system and the screen isn't functioning. I believe it's probably aftermarket, but I'm not sure. I'd like to just replace the monitor portion of the system without replacing the cameras. The problem is that I can't find the name of the manufacturer anywhere on the system. I've tried to search the internet with the part number of the back, but no luck. I've attached pictures of it. Has anyone seen anything like this? Do you know who the manufacturer might be?
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Everyone,
My 2000 396 has dual SeaStar tilt wheel helms, but I am not sure of the model. Last weekend the upper help became more difficult to turn and it stick a bit at about 20 degrees left or right of center. You can turn though the hard spot and then the pressure releases suddenly and you can turn again more normally. It does this same thing a to a lessor degree in a couple of other spots. The lower helm is what I would consider a bit stiff as well but doesn't stick. Also, I have had the boat less than a year don't ever use that station, so I can't say if that is normal or not... I admit I don't know a lot about hydraulics, so I am hoping some can help. Does this sound like air or some failure of the helm?
Thanks,
Russ

Switches for trim tabs draw power when activated but no tab movement. Where is the trim tab fluid reservoir?
