View the latest post Purchased 444, Few questions

Hi, I just contracted a 2003 444 with Volvo TAMD63's. The broker gave me a recent survey from a deal that fell through so I don't expect any big surprises when I have my own survey done.

There is a list of things I want to fix after I take possession. Most of the list I have a handle on. I am very much a DYI type, long time motor head but never touched a diesel.

1. I want to add the ability to monitor fuel flow. What are my options?
-Can I go with Flow Scan, or does the TAMD63' have a tank return?
-Is there any way to get injector pulse width data from the engine computers? I am a electrical/software engineer by trade and can cobble together and calibrate a flow monitoring system if this data is available from the engine computers and the format of the data is available.

2. How to identify manufacturer and source of a few things I want to replace such as a few cracked access ports (~8" rings with disk that unscrews from ring), A few salon lights that don't light up, various hoses in engine room that a starting to look a bit shabby.

3. What is your normal top speed and RPM ? Previous survey list about 26 MPH at about 2800 RPM, five adults on
board. Fuel tanks read 1/8 aft and 3/4 main tanks. Water gauge read 0/4. Waste gauges read 0/4. A web search suggests that is close to what is expected... perhaps a couple MPH low. This will be that main item I will look for when I have my survey done. Seller is replacing worn cutless bearings before sea trial.

Thank you
Russ

View the latest post Technical drawings 25 Montego

Hi all, new to the forum, and new to owning a Carver. It's just an older one, but Im really into it. 30 years old, and every things works great, really like the craftsmanship from this era. I'm based over here in New Zealand, so things are a bit harder to find...but any chance anyone has access to any old technical drawings? I have a 1989 Montego 2557 that's a bit different, the twin mercs and legs are gone, replaced with a 454 and a Hamilton jet. Still a few tuning things to sort out, but running ok so far...
My plan however is to put this boat into commercial use, so I need to try to find some tech drawings for my surveyor. Big ask I know but thought I should try. Carver factory were helpful but don't have any older records kept anymore, thanks for reading
Cheers
Adam

View the latest post Attachment(s) Spiral Stairs - the long and winding ......

20210220_105533.jpg
Well, as I mentioned in the topic on spiral stairs, we bit the bullet and ordered a set for our 85 3607. I thought I would start a separate topic for our journey in attaching them. It took about 3 weeks from when we ordered to arrival. We unwrapped most of it on Friday night to see if we could figure out how they went together. There are no instructions!!! We were sent a photo to refer to. Went up to the boat on Saturday with great expectations!!! Sadly they were not met :-( We decided to start out by assembling the stairs on the ground. It took about an hour to get the bottom step on and aligned. Thankfully the other three stairs went on in about 5 minutes each. Next step was to remove the old ladder. What a chore that was. So, now we have a spiral stair case to nowhere and no ladder to the deck!! We have to now figure out how to remove the brackets that were holding the old ladder. The screws are just spinning. We assume that the brackets are maybe glued on as well as the screws. Any thoughts on how to remove them. Can't dry fit the new stairs until those have been removed. Won't get back to the boat for a couple of weeks so it will give us time to research that. As well as fixing the screw holes.

Hi All:

We've jumped in deep with a '98 Carver 53 (Cummins 450's)--we've spent a year searching for the right boat. It took over 2 months to conclude the sale. Sea trials (yup multiple) showed some issues that hadn't cropped up earlier. So...with some new parts and some servicing we took possession a few days back.

Glad to be here (Sidney BC) and looking forward to learning from all of you.

Rob.

View the latest post Carver 506 Pilot house and sun deck light switch?

Hey!
Can I get a little help? I just bought a Carver 506, 2000 and cannot locate the sundeck light switches. I found the courtesy lights along floor, panel lights and dome light but cannot find the ones on the enclosed aft sundeck. I’ve tried the two courtesy lights by pilot house stairs and the rocker switch for under water light to no avail. I even changed out all bulbs and tried all switches in the cabinet to the side of the helm. Also made sure all switches were on in box to the aft cabin. What the heck am I missing? Please help. Janice

View the latest post Dual 50amp to dual 30amp

Hello everyone. Just closed on my first Carver this week and will take delivery in about a week.

1996 Carver 370 Aft Cabin

Question: The boat has dual 120v 50amp plugs. My dockside hookup is dual 120v 30amp plugs. Am I correct to use two 30amp cables and put a male 30amp to female 50amp adapter on the boat side?

Or is there a better way to do this?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Size and number of duck bills

I have a 2000 396 Aft cabin. This spring I want to replace the duck bills on the sanitation pumps. I know I have Sealand Vacuflush systems but I do not have a model number and I am not at the boat.

Apparently, it is either a S or T pump and it appears from my search that it will require either a 1 1/2" or 2" size duck bill. Also, it appears that one model requires 2 duck bills and the other 4 duck bills.

Is there a way of knowing which I have (S or T) and what is required without goinig to the boat. I looked through the documentation that came with the boat without luck.

Thanks.
