View the latest post It all starts with a plan...

Hi all,

Thanks for reading my post and if anyone has any info to offer, it would be so very much appreciated!

I don't own a motor yacht... yet. I have driven a couple on and off with friends who have them around Vancouver and I have owned smaller boats before. I don't know what it is about the Carver Yacht but I think the layout, performance, etc. etc. are just great. My wife and I are planning to retire in a few years. We love the Caribbean and always vacation there. Would love to make it a lifestyle with a 36-40ft Carver.

So here goes: Is taking a 6 month journey from Miami to Barbados doable from a logistics perspective? By that I mean enough fuel/marinas along the way? I know that there are factors such as RPM, GPH used, weather and sea conditions, fuel capacity, etc. to consider but is it something that is done fairly easily in my 'planned 36ft-40ft Carver Yacht'?

Been looking at nav charts and trying to research online but it doesn't quite give me the confidence yet so I thought I would ask the experts.

Thank you for any info! :)

View the latest post source for engine anodes for 74 TAMD EDC

I am in brackish water and have aluminum anodes on the hull and gear, I am wondering if I should use aluminum pencil anodes in the engine as well and if so does any one sell a kit? Boat zincs dot com sells kits for Cummins but not Volvo as near as I can tell.
Thoughts would be appreciated

View the latest post New Carver Owner in P-Cola

Good morning all. My wife and I just bought our 1999 450 Voyager Pilothouse. We are hoping to cruise the gulf coast, Keys and Caribbean islands. This is my first boat (yep went big), but luckily, my wife had her captains ticket earlier in life. Hope to meet up with folks during our voyages. Stay safe everyone.

View the latest post 52 Sedan wiring schematic

The owner's manual for the 2021 52 Sedan is one of the best I've seen. The DC systems portion is outstanding for the owner/operator. Who ever collected and edited this owner's manual did a fine job.
What I'm looking for is the wiring schematic for this model - the basic schematic, not any specialized options package.
I've searched the web and I get a variety of wiring diagrams by nothing specific to the 52 Carver Sedan. Is there a wiring diagram out there that shows the DC circuit system layout?

View the latest post 2004 360 Sport Sedan questions

Greetings all! I'm a newbie Carver owner with a couple of questions I'm sure someone out there can answer.
1. I have a circular gauge on the electrical panel that shows the fresh water amount. However, I've yet to find a gauge of any kind that shows what the level of fill is for the BLACK water tank. I realize I probably could go crawling around below deck and look for the tank but seems to me there should be a gauge somewhere. Ideas?
2. I recently (I've only had the boat a little over a month) ran into an issue with the motor stalling as we were trying to enter a slip, very dodgy moment. So, I brought in a well-recommended mechanic to try to suss out the continuous problem with getting the engines running and keeping them running. The mechanic was perplexed by the boat shuddering when we tried to start the engines (Volvo Pentas). He developed a theory that there might be excessive back pressure due to the underwater exhaust arrangement. Any ideas on this?
OK, there will be more questions coming as I get more up close and personal with this gorgeous vessel, so, I thank any respondent in advance
Cheers!
Patrick

View the latest post Logo/emblems, table and locks

last week I sprayed some impossible to pronounce chemical (but bio degradable so the world is not degrading faster) on our hull and the yellowish 'mustache' disappeared. Leaving a nice white hull. Quite surprised and happy of course, the renovation will take lots of work on polishing and such but I now see an end to this and we will have a nice white shiny boat in the end.

Which brings me to my question: are the 'Carver' logo's digitally available? I mean the old ones, (my boat is from 1992). They seem quite simple as far as the font goes but before I start a noob-to-over-the-top course in creating a digital version i thought I'd better ask here first.

Searching accross the web I have collected a number of pictures of various lay-outs, design solutions and details.

Questions that arose:

- I found a picture with a latch on the sliding door (280 sedan/26 command bridge) with a lock. I don't have a lock at all, would like one. Would this be a simple swap but can I acquire one? Are there salvage boats where parts can be found? Or new perhaps even?

- the shower thingy in the back is worn and damaged, is this a certain brand that still exists? The common chinese options are totally differently dimensioned so are a difficult solution.

- The power and fwd/reverse handles seem upside down on my bridge, pictures of setups welcome. Also the 'quarter moon' dashboard parts on either side of the center 'pod' are damaged in mine, what was there originally? tips and pics welcome.

- my dining table was probably once pushed over with force, leaving the plastic parts in the table and in the floor in pieces. I do have the aluminium pipes but the table is not steady any more. Is this a common problem, are there known solutions?

Before one advises to contact Carver and get all the information I can ever think of to ask; they don't react to my short email through their website and calling them is not that easy from the other side of the world and thus timezone as owner of an old carver through which they're not likely to make money any more.

I very much appreciate any information, it's an interesting journey to undertake and when I get a bit more momentum (it's winter over here now) I can start a blog if people are interested.

I have a 350 Carver Mariner and am considering adding a couple of speakers in the back of the steps to the bridge. Has anyone done this or have a better solution?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Any Pointers on removing the steering wheel

All - We are prepping our 3607 aft cabin for a spring move. The bimini structure is down ,electroncs removed. I am now looking at removing the steering wheel. Any suggestions ? If you look in the 2 pictures there are 4 bolts holding it on so it seems obvious but I don't want to be cleaning up hydraulic fluid :-P .

View the latest post Water under hatch

There are several hatches in the Master stateroom on our 560 Carver Voyager. The small hatch at the foot of the bed collects water. I have been unable to detect where it is coming from. I stopped up entry holes on either side. Any ideas? Thanks
