Good morning, new member, 1st post. A few years into retirement and along w/my son, looking for a boat to share. My other son got into boating a couple of years ago and loves it, this will be a first for me. Going this Saturday to look at a Carver 3207 aft cabin. Family has owned it for the past 4 years, kids in sports is causing them to rethink boating and getting an RV for a few years till the kids get older. Got a copy of the 45 page survey that was done in August for the insurance company. It is an '82 and the survey did not suggest any major issues, I am a tinkerer... Boat comes w/a slip for the 2021 season, I checked out the marina and our slip a couple of days ago... We will see what Saturday brings. Looking forward to the forum and all the knowledge that it contains. :usa:

Not sure this has been posted here before, but I just ran across this page on Carver's website. Could be helpful for some folks. Shows things like how the arches and other appurtenances are installed.

View the latest post New owner of 2000 450 Voyager Pilot House

I just bought a 2000 Carver 450 Voyager Pilot House and brought it home up the ICW in Florida. Now home, it's time to replace out-of-date, worn-out, and non-working items (not that a Harman-Kardon laser disk isn't a great option).
I'm looking for general advice:
Best place to buy general boating items
Best place to buy Carver specific items
Best place/way to buy/get replacement mattresses (at least one of my mattresses looks like a Civil War bandage)
Anything you would recommend
Etc.
After a two-day cruise home on the ICW all I'm really sure of is that 560 gallons of diesel is expensive and I hate sailboats (Ok, maybe hate is a strong word but between "Stay out of my wind" and "I can't handle a wake", they sure slow you down in the channel.)

If you have something to share I'd like to learn. Thanks

My mechanism for opening the cabin door need help, I am trying to find the mfg of the door lock and hatch release, If you dont have a Carver that opens the door and hatch at the same time you likely dont understand the problem.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Windlass installation

I'm considering installing an electric windlass on the "Damn Boat", a 1983 3607AC. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should run away from, what is good, and approximately what it is going to cost me?

Also, any decent marine salvage yards around the mid-south?

Thanks

Ed

View the latest post Seat on bow of 396 AC

The admiral really wants to have installed a permanent bench seat on the bow of our 396. She is not comfortable sitting and rising from the sun pads.

There is a small space across the bow below the window and above the non-skid. Has anyone added a bench of some type to a 396 and, if so, please provide some thoughts, suggestions, pics, etc.

Thanks.
