My original bridge switch panel had years of sun damage. We ordered a custom panel from New Wire Marine. They used our measurements and it came pre wired. It looks so much better and at night is really visible.

What do you think of how I did? I shut off the sea clock for the strainer, then ran fresh water through the strainer and heat exchanger. Next, ran 3 or so gallons of ink through the strainer uniting pink came ou. I did not fog the Honda engine on genset. After I take the 20 mile run u the river to storage, I plan on running the genset again and dumping a couple more gallons of -60 through the strainer, just in case any water got into the exhaust port and settled in the muffler. Sound OK?

View the latest post Volvo Penta 8.1L exhaust riser elbow pipe plug

Question: accessing/checking internal exhaust cavity without removing elbow
On our factory OEM Volvo Penta 8.1L TBI exhaust elbow (no CAT) there is a pipe plug on the top, almost centered over the exhaust riser. Does removing this plug allow "swabbing" the exhaust cavity for moisture?
I don't want to "un-do" a pipe plug that accesses the raw water jacket area.
We had the port engine exhaust riser gaskets replaced last year, and would like to check the std engine.

So after reading the article about the boat fire, it said everyone had their life jackets on. Good to hear, but then I got to thinking about where we store our jackets and how accessible they are or are not. Where do you store your life jackets? How accessible are they in the event of an incident?

Riviera 2807 - supposed to check and change the trim tab pump reservoir (pic below), but there does no appear tp be any access to perform that. What am I missing (again)? I also asked on the FB Group but the photo would not stick.

- Posted by: SunsetSteve » October 12th, 2020, 2:13 pm
- Forum: Electrical
On my single engine Albin 25 I had a start battery and 2 golf cart batteries with an ACR distributing the charge. I loved the leave-it-alone aspect and let the ACR make all the decisions, aside from on/off.
Now on my Riv there are 2 Group 27s and a regular old fashioned 1/2/both/off switch, and I have to rely on a 36 year old voltmeter at the helm. The batteries look to me like those not-true-deep-cycle marine batteries.
Should I be satisfied with this setup? What is the group wisdom on retro-fitting these older battery arrangements?

- Posted by: lshuback » October 12th, 2020, 11:56 am
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Hi ! I have a 1998 Carver 405 , it has two (2) 150 gallon gas tanks and one (1) 40 gallon reserve. I’m wondering if anyone is familiar on what needs to be done in order to transfer fuel from reserve to main tanks . There is a valve and is currently in the position shown in my photos. The previous owner wasn’t familiar so I’m hopeful someone here might be able to assist. Thanks very much!

According to the local paper, they had an electrical problem while heading across Simcoe. Another reminder to have all your safety gear , jackets, escape plan and learn how to use an extinguisher properly.
Not saying these poor folk did anything wrong at all, just a reminder.....they were rescued from the lake by a passing boater, a little cold but otherwise ok.
There seems to have been a few boat fires this year.
