View the latest post Riviera 28 FWD upholstery
- Posted by: SunsetSteve » November 14th, 2020, 5:48 pm
- Forum: Carver Yachts Forum - Model Discussion
There's not a lot of buzz on here about the excellent Riviera 28 from the Classic 80's era, and opinions about its design are divided, For us, the setup is perfect, despite aging arthritic knees. Over this winter season we need to figure out our usage of the fwd and aft cabins. The fwd cabin has the advantage of a head for those midnight needs, a large flat screen TV, and a spacious "bed." Simple enough to go to IKEA to replace the aft mattresses. But the 38 yr old cushions up front are numerous, and after 38 years do (forgivably) tend to flatten to the plywood base when lain upon - hard on these old bones. The question: has anyone addressed the issue of plumping or otherwise upgrading the seat cushions in the fwd cabin of the Riviera? (I think the backrest cusions can still function as is) Frustratingly, due to the dual nature of the fwd cabin, it is not simply a matter of finding/constructing a V-cushion . . . or is it??? (hmmmm)
Advice?

View the latest post 2003 466 aft shower box pump not coming on when it should

- Forum: The Project Center
the shower box will be full of water but the pump wont come on unless I manually pull the sump switch on. I have emptied the box then opened the cover and lifted the float switch, and the pump will come on. Could the float switch somehow be filled with water to keep it from rising with the water level? My bilge now has water in it that wouldn't normally be there and I need to figure this out before the bilge starts to smell musty. I welcome any suggestions anyone has.
Thanks

At the moment I'm looking for a backplate black which has the Two ignition switches and I believe three other switches which are on the bridge.also
I have had a mechanic working on both of my engines for over 6 months and he has not been able to fix either one I am way past considering on fire I just don't know who to use next. I am in Urbanna Virginia area.
Apparently all the water that's poured into the heat exchange disappears no apparent reason it has been rumored that the gasket is in backwards he swears it is not. He says he's following the mechanical information in the carver book however others have told me that the information is wrong. I'm simply waiting for him to put it all back together and let him go and try again. I've only spoke for 8 months and I've never taken it out yet.

Going through the Spare Parts Box left aboard by my PO I have cleared out a lot of funny bits and pieces. But one piece has me mystified - can anyone identify the plastic belt in the attached photo? Maybe it has nothing to do with the boat?

We purchased a 3607 aft cabin that comes equipped with full enclosure so there is no obvious place to put a bbq. Just wondering what the rest of you do for your bbq?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Help! Just purchased a 3607 and am having trouble figuring out what seacocks go where!
- Posted by: longislandcarver » November 11th, 2020, 11:12 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Hi all! We just purchased a 1986 3607 right at then end of the season here in CT. Got a killer deal ($4500) but part of it was I didn't have the opportunity to meet the seller, so didn't get the "here is where everything is" walkthrough and am trying to figure out what lines go where.
I haven't had any luck finding anyone what knows Carvers and can professionally winterize it for me (or show how the process), so I am going to have to give it a shot myself. I've winterized my fair share of houses and RVs and can handle the actual process, the real issue I am running into is figuring out what hoses go to the heads and what hoses go to the AC. On a positive note the prior owner did not fill the freshwater tanks this year so I think I just have to run some RV antifreeze from the shore water connection until it is coming out of all the faucets and I should be good there.
Here are pictures of the seacocks I found, I have no idea what is what, if anyone is able to help me ID them that would be VERY much appreciated as the boat is getting pulled this week and it is going to be cold soon.
Any tips on winterizing and if I need to worry about anything besides the engine/head/ac is very appreciated!
This is directly in front of the port engine:
This is directly in front of the starboard engine
This is also directly in front of the starboard engine (this one looks promising as it looks like it is designed to hook a hose up to to pump in antifreeze - still can't figure out what it goes to though - turning it off did not seem to effect the head).
This is directly in front of the stairs as you come down from the deck. The hose appears to come around and enter the junction in the below picture after going through a pump.
This is what the hose in the picture above appears to go into, I assume it has something to do with the head since it has Jabsco on the handle, but turning it off does not seem to effect the head at all.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my post, seems like a nice group here and I am glad to have joined!

We are getting the run around from a seller we currently have under contract and would love an opportunity to find a replacement and walk away from this deal. Anyone have a 42'-44' Carver 1988-2001 you might be thinking of selling??
