View the latest post Attachment(s) prop play

Hi guys! After the boat went on the hard, I looked around and found a
very slight looseness on my startboard prop. Just a readjustment? I did get stuck on a sand bar during
the summer, but tested it after wards and there was no vibration.

View the latest post New "powerboater" joining (Montego 25)

Hello, new member here!

Not new to boat ownership (owned a 1978 C&C 29 sailboat for a few years) but new to power boats and just finalizing the purchase of a 1990 Montego 2557. According to the listing, the engine is a Volvo Penta 570, so I`m assuming that is the Volvo AQ271 dual prop that was an option according to the owners manual I found - there were 6 engine options so it is hard to figure out what I am getting!

Boat is in great shape from what I can tell - anything in particular I should look out for with these boats? Anything I should keep an eye on while owning it?

Thanks!

View the latest post Trumpet horns stopped working today

Today, having to deal with some very dense fog, the captain and I used our 2006 Carver 36MY horns more times, then all of the past year.

The third sounding, failed to make any noise. We were short on time returning our guests back home, so we'll have to revisit an evaluate. First, verify we have power to the switch, then power to the horns, then...?I

Anyone have their horns fail like this? I'm assuming 14yrs is a good run, so what is the best value/performance for another 14yrs?

Suggestions appreciated

View the latest post 1997 355AC not able to pull from aux tank

Hello all, I have an issue of not being able to use the aux tank on my Carver. I have tried both engines on it and both stall out shortly after switching from their dedicated saddle tanks to the aux tank. The issue first arose on a longer trip this year. I was completely fueled up on all 3 tanks and running the aux tank for about 3 hours straight, no issues. We stopped and anchored for about 2 hours then continued on. About 30 minutes later both engines stalled and would not start until I switched to their respective saddle tanks. Since then I have not be able to run either engine off the the aux tank. Every time I try they stall after switching from saddle to aux. help is greatly appreciated!

View the latest post Volvo D Series Crankcase Vent Filter

This unit fits the D4,D6 and D9. Corresponds to Volvo # 3584145

I have been using the Mann LC 5001X filter which is an exact replacement for the Volvo unit except it costs $29US as opposed to $90US. There is no difference whatsoever between the original and the Mann and I am convinced they are produced in the same factory.

That being said I will installing my last complete set of filters for my D6 engines and started looking for next years change, Came across this which is ridiculously priced in comparison. Advertised as a direct replacement for the Mann unit I know works perfectly. At that price I Will be ordering 8 to keep me going for 4 years. :-D

View the latest post 1993 350 Crusader engine electric fuel pump

I have to replace my port engine fuel pump and the outlet inverted flare fitting is damaged. The male threaded part sheared off while tightening in the fuel pump. I have looked in numerous crusader part list manuals and no reference to this fitting. Does any one know where I can find this fitting part number or better yet.......where I can purchase

View the latest post 1984 Carver 3607 Aft Cabin Portlight Lenses

I am beginning the restoration of my 1984 3607,

Project 1 keep water outside where it belongs.
A) portlights seem to all have problems. So any assistance on identifying part numbers would be appreciated.
most of the portlights are 24 by 7 inches +- rectangular. Ideally I would like to just replace the lenses but am not opposed to replacing the whole fixture. most of the knobs for the dogs are missing as well. The seals look good so I can probably get away with just lenses.

B) I think another serious leak is all the Rail stanchions. a few of them seem to be challenging to reach the bolt hardware below. Any hints would be appreciated.

View the latest post Greetings from the Chesapeake Bay norfolk area.

I just purchased a 1984 Carver 3607 Aft Cabin.

I bought it in Islip Long Island NY. Hopped on it and began my trek to Norfolk Virginia.

Day 1 survived the trip in the Atlantic with my 36 year old project, ported in Atlantic City on starboard engine only, previous owner indicated he had shortened the fuel tank pickup to keep dirt from clogging system 30 gallons short??? Realized that my course put me out of cell phone range and probably VHF range of shore. A bit of a rude awakening losing sight of America.

Day 2 Survived the atlantic again, Came in on starboard engine only, apparently need to do a little maintenance Cleaned water separator filter. 5 minute project became 5 hours due to limited tools and a very stuck separator.

Day 3 leaving Ocean city I tested the 36 year old super structure leaving the inlet. Fridge flew from its mounts as I buried the bow pulpit in the ocean repeatedly. Considered turning around but it turned out to be an artifact of the inlet magnifying the 4 to 5 foot seas to 6 to 8 foot I would guess. 5 minutes of excitement became a day of excitement as the seas were still a challenge for the tiny ship. fuel pitstop before the upcoming fuel desert Chincoteague. Chincoteague to Norfolk 87 miles or so through the fuel desert with my 5 gallon reserve on deck I made it running on vapors.

Now the project begins a winter of turning my 36 year old girl into something my wife wont hate me for.

Project 1 portlights are in disrepair. Project 1 already proving to be challenging. I will find the right place to pose my question.
