View the latest post CAT 3126 stalled . won't restart

Recently we changed the fuel filters and afterwards started the engines and they ran fine.

Today the starboard engine coughed, choked and stalled. It won't restart. Have tried twice to restart - no luck.

Suggestions & advice welcome.

View the latest post 91 Carver 430 named Lady Jean in Canada

Hello all,

I have a deposit on a boat that will be surveyed next week but I found out that it was previously owned in Keswick, Ontario, Canada and was named Lady Jean. The one problem I have is that there is no ownership/maintenance history on this boat (it was in marina inventory when it went through bankruptcy in 2015). I was hoping that maybe someone knows someone who might know any of the previous owners of this boat that might be able to fill in any history/maintenance history for me.

Thanks,
Kent

View the latest post Bilge Blower

Hi, looking for advice on how many bilge blowers should i have on my 1995 Carver Santego 310. There is only 1 and it is not connected to any vent ducting .I am thinking there should be 1 for each engine. If only 1 is required should it vent out the port or starboard side vents. Thanks

View the latest post Attachment(s) New Riviera Owner!

Hi Carver-folk!
Just finalized everything (pretty much) today on a brand spanking new (hah!) Riviera 2807. Having it shipped to my front yard soon, will work on upgrading the electronics and fluids while saving thousands in storage-bucks this winter. The survey was very comforting - no moisture throughout except swim platform and bow pulpit - none! Everything in great shape, the only negatives: no upgraded electronics and needs a few maintenance items such as replace trans lubrication, keep an eye on thru-hulls, one electrical connection using twist-on caps. Need gfi plugins in 2 places. That's about it. We will replace the full canvas top, 2 pieces, in black of course. upgrade the batteries and look to adding solar so we don't have to be a dock queen. Wish there was a way to install a windlass on this boat!

Next: find a maintenance manual online. Any leads? I have the owners manual from the generic online thing but it contains few details about engine care. 2 x 220 hp Crusaders. I have been working with a single 36 hp VP diesel for 6 years so it is a challenge gazing upon a pair of big V8s.

This boat from way back in 1983 has the look and feel of a recent vintage, which says a whole lt about how Carver builds them.

I kook forward to learning from you folks as I start having serious fun with it in my yard over the coming season!

I have read some comments here critical of the layout of the Riviera. They give me a chuckle. This layout is prefect and so superior to the tedious and overworked open-stern (a la Sea Ray) with the curvy couches and downstairs living quarters (no aft cabin). Of course, each to his or her own, different folks, and all that. But seriously . . .

Happy to be here!

View the latest post Kohler generator 10 ..diesel

Generator won't start...When we were at the dock, we started genny prior to going out on the water & it started & ran fine...Once out on the hook later that night, genny wouldn't start..We get a sort of humming noise when pressing switch..We have tried to start from the switch on the unit with same result..We have replaced the battery..Oil, coolant & water are fine..We replaced the impeller last year as it started but switched off after 10 mins or so...Over heating is not the problem this year...It just won't even start...I have read a lot of your posts..Circuit boards, solenoids, breaker, fuses ??..Thoughts ??

View the latest post Holding Tank / Line Odor Only when Flushing

Hi,

We have a 1997 355 AC and we've picked up an odor in salon momentarily after the forward head is flushed. It seems to get worse the more the holding tank holds. This odor goes away 5 mins or so after appearing. My bilge is clean and dry and I was wondering if the vent may be plugged? I'm having a hard time finding the vent. It's almost like it's venting in the boat.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Thank in advance.

Br,

John :help:

View the latest post battery / dc layout

I have a carver 2000 406 aft cabin and am trying to get a wiring diagram for the batteries. I have 4 batteries that feed the boats systems. I have a battery charger that keeps these four batteries charged when I'm hooked into shore power.
I have a schematic from the owner's manual which show's all the DC circuits but nothing on the batteries.
Any help would be highly appreciated because I need to remove some of the batteries while still living on the boat and in the water.

I have a set of these original faucets in the galley that are old and in need of a replacement. Has or does anyone know of a direct replacement for these? Mainly concerned about the piping size that is in place versus what is there now.

Thanks!
