View the latest post Solar Panels On A Cloudy Day

So I checked the SOC meter to see what was happening. I have been without power for about 5 hours. I was actually quite surprised to see 10+ amps being input to the battery bank as it is really overcast today and has been like this since this morning. Pics don't lie. I am running dual 150W units in parallel FYI. Bottom line is solar is really a good investment on the boat.

View the latest post 1997 355 Aft Cabin aux tank

Like many, my aux tank sat empty for many years and I wanted it back in service. I installed a spin on fuel/water separator/filter in the fuel line just upstream of the UFO fuel filter. Approximately 6 tanks of fuel and a dozen fuel filters later, there is some sort of green substance that won’t go away in the fuel. I know it can’t be algae, but it’s something like that. I just poured Starbrite fuel enzyme in there, and it seems to be working because I’m going through even more fuel filters and now the fuel lines are clogged. Has anyone gone through this process? I’m going to replace the one-way check valves at the fuel tank to see if that’s where the clog is. Anyone who has experience with this, please advise.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Canvas repair

Arrived on board after a couple of days away. We left on Sunday when the winds we expected to gust up to 90 km. On the other side of the lake it hit 102km. Anyhow, upper canvas got ripped. Suggestions for repair work. I was thinking of just a patch that is wider than the current piece. Also was there anyway to prevent?

On my 2004 Carver 466 MY the white paint is chipping off the front aluminum window frames inside and out.. Any idea what the white color number would be and what type of paint.
Thanks in advance for your help.

View the latest post Tie down straps for large tanks?

I have to replace my waste tanks. I'm not sure if I can re-use the existing strapping that is holding down the tanks. It is about 1/2" wide black plastic similar to what's used to secure stuff to pallets for shipping.

What are some other options? Large tie-wraps? The straps would have to be almost 7' long to go around the tank (34 gallon tanks).

View the latest post Original Gauges

Hello,
My 1980 3326 has all original gauges, except one. I do have the original one that was replaced.

Does anyone know how to refurbish old 1980gauges?

I was going to shine up all connections. But can a old tach gauge be restored?

Thx

View the latest post Switch Cover Replacements

Most of us have Contura rocker style switches. I have (HAD) the soft touch covers, which have degenerated over time. I saw some replacements, but they were $9.00/each. However, I stumbled upon Delcity. www.delcity.net

Check them out. Covers from .95/each, GREAT pricing on circuit breakers, MAXI fuse circuit readers and tinned wire. Pretty much everything you would need for electrical upgrade. I ought 20 switch covers, 2 removal tools and a 60A Marine push button circuit breaker.......$30.81 including shipping. Check them out and save a few bucks!

View the latest post 466 gauge replacement

Hi all! I’m the new owner of a 2003 466 MY and so far very happy with Carver build quality and the boat. But there are many gremlins to be extricated. One is the engine sync/rudder angle gauge which is never providing accurate information.

I tried to find part supplier data and so far have not found a source. Has anyone had similar issues and is there a fix? Either repair of current gauge or replacement?
