View the latest post 325 Aft Cabin Outlet Diagram

Figured I’d hit up this forum to see if anyone might be able to help. All the inside electrical outlets on the starboard side of our 1995 325 Aft Cabin have stopped working. The outlets in the aft cabin are still working, and they should be on the same circuit. I replaced the GFCI outlet on the aft deck, as it was dead, but while that was brought back to life, the ones on the inside remain lifeless.

I’m assuming this is an issue of either a dead outlet or bad connection somewhere in the line. I pulled several outlets and ran a voltage test, but couldn’t find the culprit (none are receiving juice). I figure if someone knows the order the outlets are wired, I can focus in on the first dead one.

Thanks in advance!

View the latest post Caterpillar Diesel in a 1993 430 CPMY

Ahoy.

I am fairly new here. I am about to buy a 1993 430 CPMY. The boat interior is very nice and clean with no funky smells. The boat has 3116 Caterpillar engines. I was surprised because all the other ones I have seen advertised had Cummins Diesels. I cant find this info on the carver website so far. Are the 3116 Cats good engines? They have 800 hours on them. Sea trial is tomorrow. Anything I should be looking or listening for ? The owner told me the anchor locker drains in to the bilge. Is that true? If it is true has anyone remedied that problem or just something to live with?

View the latest post Did you know HomeDepot has boat parts?

I am in the middle of replacing my bilge blowers. I got the old ones out and went to the local marina, which has a pretty good stock of parts, etc. I purchased two 4" bilge blowers at a price of $68 each. I thought that sounded high and when I got back to the boat, ran a search online using the same brand, and model number. I found that HomeDepot sells boat parts and they had the same blowers for $30 each! My local store doesn't stock them, they would have to be ordered, but next time I will know.

View the latest post KOHLER 6.5 HAUNTED!

I ran my genset with NO issues all weekend. HOWEVER, I went to start it this evening and NOTHING! The electric fuel pump went on, and the choke moved, but nothing at the starter. There are 2 red lights on the control board that went on when I pushed the switch to “START”. I have 12V down to the starter, and I pulled the exciter wire, (yellow one) from the terminal and put a meter on it, and when we hit the start switch, I got my 12 Volts down to that wire too. ALthough the starter is only 3 years old, I am thinking it may have gone bad? Not an easy one as the sound shield has to be removed. Input? It is the hONDA GX engine, so I assume the starter has to be marine and explosion proof? SO, the weekend was not ruined, I started the 454’s up to warm the water for a nice shower, batteries are still at 90% on the house, starting is full.

Thanks for your help and guidance.

Tony

View the latest post Attachment(s) stern area ensign flag pole mount suggestions

From those having aft cabin models, having installed a stern ensign flag pole mount (1.125" Diameter I think?)
what/where did you buy? How do you like? Would you mount it the same again?

My idea is to find a surface mount, rather than bore a big base hole, using three or four screws with some 3m 4200 underneath. Any known issues with this approach?

Other suggestions?

as always, thanks for the feedback

View the latest post Attachment(s) Inverter

I was running a Kiase 1000W power inverter. New last year, very light use. I went to use it this AM and the cooling fan will not come on. I bought it from West Marine. I am thinking of moving up to a 2000 or 3000 watt unit. I have already run 00 cables so I have the pat heavy enough. What are you guys running. It will be an independent unit, not hooked into the power panel.

View the latest post Carver Testimonial

Thought I would post on here how impressed we have been with Carver since the purchase of our new boat. Prior to us picking up the new boat the dealer noticed that the vinyl on the interior seating had some wrinkles developing in it (I didnt even notice them when I looked at the boat) after we signed the contract they said they were going to have Carver replace that with new as they have had some bad batches of Vinyl that didnt hold up from the sun. Now mind you I didnt even ask them to do this. Carver was supposed to come to the dealer in New Jersey to replace it in April prior to our orientation, then Covid happened. The boat was delivered to us in Erie PA and we were told Carver would come to us to fix it when things opened up a little. I really hadnt checked in about it as we were enjoying the boat and were happy to be just out on it. Well Carver called this month and scheduled to have two guys fly in to fix it. The two gentlement that came were great made me feel even better about Carver as a company, and they did an absolute amazing job. I had been expecting to have some issues or even have the work not look like it did from the factory and to my amazement It was better than I expected. This small experience along with how much we love the boat really cements our view that we made a good decision and looking forward to many years on the boat!

View the latest post Official new owners 2004 Carver 356

Hello Captains,
It's been a few months, 7 to be exact, and we finally have the keys to our first Carver... a 2004 356 with 8.1L Gi Pentas. We looked at several brands (non-Carvers) and models over those months but narrowed it down to a 355 or 356 once we realized this was what we wanted. We made an offer on a 1998 355 and a 2003 356 but couldn't come to an agreement with those owners. And finally, in our own back yard (our boating lake), we found the dream we were looking for all those months. Patience paid off big time for us. We couldn't be happier. We have spent one weekend on her so far and I've been all over her like a cheap $5, ah, car wash. :-D
We all know a boat is a trade off of something and mine was a tight engine room. Or in this case let's just call it a space. Wholly crap, seriously, if I gain a pound I'll never get down in the engine space again. But... otherwise the Admiral and I can't smile enough :-D
So before I sign off on my first post as a new owner I'll leave one question for you all... WHAT is with the battery set up on this boat? The manual shows a battery switch with on/off/1/2 but that's not we have. We have what seems to be the diesel set up, i.e. on/off under the step and then 3 other on/off (one for each engine and genny). I'd show you my pics but can't figure that out for now. Anyway, anyone one to comments on that specific set up please do. And finally, for more interesting facts, it comes with 4 (yes, four) deep cycle batteries. And that's listed in the original paperwork sa well.
I look forward to all our upcoming conversations.
All the best Captains,
Poppy Tortuga
