View the latest post 2000 374 voyager water heater tank
- Posted by: 333 » September 15th, 2024, 3:56 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
I just purchased a used 2000 carver 374 voyager cabin cruiser. The hot water tank is locater on the port side of the port engine {330 cumins}. the hot and cold water line is disconnected and joined together. The two male nipples on front of tank are not attached to anything. I assume these should be connected to the engine so that hot engine coolant will heat the water. Problem is I have no info on why this is done or if there is a problem with the heater. where tank is located it looks impossible to remove tank without removing engine. Has anyone had this problem and is there a way to remove tank without moving engine

View the latest post Attachment(s) Bilge blower hose replacement
- Posted by: BarryK » September 15th, 2024, 12:56 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Hi everyone,
I would like to replace the 4" hoses to the bilge blowers. There are several cracks in the old ones. The upper connection is to a plastic box that exits the side. The exterior is in the attached picture. I can rotate the hose but cannot get it loose. It goes into the box rather than to a fitting on the box. Does anyone know the procedure to replace these? If I cannot get them loose I guess I can cut the hoses and put in junctions, something like the picture attached.
Thanks,
Barry

View the latest post Attachment(s) 396 2001 Carver Transom shower
- Posted by: paulr » September 13th, 2024, 10:36 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Its no wonder why some very generous boaters started this Forum years ago due to many maintenance items that come up during the ownership of a Carver.
When winterizing my boat for the first time last year I pulled out the transom shower head and expected to turn it on and and flush it with the non toxic antifreeze from my water tank, nothing came out. During my one season of ownership I never used it.
Is there anyway to access the supply lines from behind without having to removing all the caulking from the valve enclosure on the outside of the transom?
Thank you anyone.

- Posted by: theorifice » September 13th, 2024, 6:37 am
- Forum: General Boating Discussion
On our Santego, we have do not have a windlass. The small port from the anchor locker to the pupit has a spring loaded cover. Stowing the rode is a real pain in the ass. The rode is not heavy or stiff enough to easily drop through the port. Pulling the rode from the anchor locker works for a bit but always gets jammed up as well even with the cover propped open.
What are others doing for manual stowing of the rode?

- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
1999 450 Voyager. I want to remove the top part of cockpit sidewall to repaint it. I believe this piece is aluminum. I can’t find where or how it is fastened to the fiberglass sidewall. Can anyone help? There is a strip of no skid down the top that looks like it is siliconed in. Wondering if that piece pops out and screws are underneath. See photo attached.

I have a 1997 455 Aft with Maxwell VWC 2200 windlass with original manual...
The chainwheel is worn, causing the chain to slip. I purchased a new one from Defender and upon removal I have found the Outer Clutch Cone (D3185) broken along with the Key (E3207).
Defender cannot cross reference the part numbers and I am not finding them via internet searches.
Does anyone have experience sourcing parts for older Maxwell 2200s ?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Upper helm leaking steering fluid
- Posted by: MCADRG » September 6th, 2024, 3:52 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
I have a 1991 3608 aft cabin and noticed my upper helm was leaking fluid at the steering wheel stem location externally and also beneath the helm when I pulled off the back board of the front bench. Does anyone know what model of helm this boat would have or how I can find out? My marina mechanical services says I will likely need to replace the upper helm as a replacement seal kit will not be available. Thank you.
