Has anyone ever been privy to the A/B Ratio of the Carver 466? Any past Carver engineers on the forum?
TIA,
Dan

The water heater replacement was truly not that bad. i DO recommend disassembling the dinette seat! By doing this you can lean in on the rear of the water heater and heat exchanger hoses. I had very little spillage as I took a couple 6” pieces of hose and plugged them with a 5/8” bolt and clamped. Then when I pulled the heat exchanger hose from the water heater, I was able to slide these on. Then a 5/8” bolt on the heat exchanger hose. Also, PIG MATS are a must! These absorbed any coolant leakage. At engine, same routine followed. remove hose from fitting, put plugged hose on fitting and clamp. PIG MATS! Upon examining the hoses, (original 30 years old ) they were still pretty pliable, however, I was in there and didn’t want to go back over a blown hose, so both were changed out. There was only 1 tie wrap I was not able to replace.
heater Seaward 1100 dropped into the hatch under the dinette. Pull and tug, and slide into position. LOTS of room (inch plus on each side!) screwed it down, hooked up rear heat exchanger hose. Then back to the engine room and connected the hoses to the engine. (If I did it again, I would have filled the hoses with coolant before connecting them. Then wired it up, and started the engine. coolant dropped a bit but nothing as I thought it would. However, after bringing the engine up to temp for a few cycles, i shut off and loosened the clamps on the rear of the heater where the hoses meet heat exchanger. Coolant came out of both. Ran up to temp a few times more and added another pint of coolant. Hoping it drops overnight a bit. Painted it also.
Took the old heater apart, found it was a bottom seam leaking. When I dumped the heater out, it was like a beach came out! Unknown where all that sand came from.
Water heated well with heat exchanger, and also electrically. Total time from start to end was approx 6.5 hours. Like I said, no it a bad project at all!
PS : Start at the bottom for the pictures, They were added in reverse!

We own a 1986 36' Mariner that we purchased in 2001. We've upgraded just about everything in the interior from the hot water tank to the upholstery. Currently about to take on repairing another section of the totally saturated deck. This time the bow area. I can't get anyone around the lake to take on the job so I guess it's mine again. I've already done 3 sections since purchasing the boat but this will be the biggest. Perfect boat except for the balsa cored decks and swim platform.

I would love to have an owners manual… would anyone be willing to share a PDF version or know where I could buy one.
I do have specific manuals for separate components but would like to see general item locations and possibly a weekly, monthly, yearly recommended maintenance schedule. And what small components are what!!!
Thanks
Jeffery

Happy Labor Day weekend! Hope everyone had a fun and safe summer. On our 1998 445 the admiral wants to take up the carpeting in the salon and hallway in the galley. Two questions. First, we are considering replacing the salon carpet with Marine Mat, any thoughts on that or other recommendations? Secondly we are considering installing hatches in the salon floor to better access the motors. Currently our access is the lift upstairs. We would put them on gas struts to make it a little easier. Has anyone done this? Any thoughts or comments would be welcomed. Thanks in advance!
Jay

View the latest post Washer/Dryer Removal
- Posted by: wsp2 » August 26th, 2024, 4:01 pm
- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
We're wanting to remove the washer/dryer combo unit from our 1995 Carver 440 aft cabin. It looks like it's walled in there pretty good though. Has anyone found a good way to remove this?
When looking at it from the front there's a lower panel which is screwed in with about 20 screws on the inside. There are two metal angle brackets with a bunch of screws, but I can't get my arm in there to remove more than the top couple of screws.

Friend of mine thinks there might be some screws underneath the trim on the outside which might hold on the whole front assembly. Our concern there is that it's flush against the ceiling so might be tough to take out without damaging the vinyl ceiling at the top.

Any recommendations on getting this out would be great.
Thanks!

Hello,
I have a 1988 3867 Santego and I need to replace the fresh water lines, does anyone know where I can get the schematics/blueprints for the water system? The owners manual has pretty vague information. Thank you
