View the latest post Engine circuit breaker tripping

I have 454 Mercruiser engines with fuel injection. The starboard engine would not start and I learned of the engine circuit breaker which is located right below the distributor. I pushed it once and the engine started, Since then, the engine stops running, I push the breaker and it starts.

Any idea why it keeps tripping? Thanks.

View the latest post Bridge Throttles Stiff

Hi Fellas,
The throttle controls on the command bridge are really stiff on our Carver 36 aft cabin. I tried to re-route them but they’re just a bit too long and they bind inside because of the hard turns.
The lower controls are much better.
Has anyone shortened up these cables, or are they not adjustable?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Carver 410SS fire in NJ

Anyone see this? My wife just ran across it as she follows Schooner Island Marina. It is where we bought our boat 2 years ago. We were in a slip on B-dock and the fire took place on the fuel dock, which is C-dock which was just behind us! So crazy and sad!! The boat had apparently just been listed for sale recently too. It was a gasser so based on the event descriptions it sounds like a lack of proper ventilation during and after fueling, but it's still being investigated. Here are a couple news links as well as some photos of the fire and ad listing.

Just posting as a reminder of the hazards when refueling. This could have been so much worse!

View the latest post Lost Power to Vacuflush

Last night the vacuflush worked...then it didn't... then it did..... Today its dead. No power going to it. Everything else in the bathroom works fine. Nothing in the panel box is tripped. The switch in the head in in the run (not sleep) position... Suction is perfect when it worked.

I put a test light on the run/sleep switch and no power there... Can the circuit breaker just fail??? Its not tripped.. Is there another fuse? What could have failed. Never had a problem with this. Until now...

Thanks

eric

View the latest post boarding ladder

I'm sure this is an issue for all boaters when docking with a boat designed with a sun deck like a 3807. When you're docking with no assistance how do you get from the sun deck to the dock to secure lines? There could be a drop of 3 to 4 feet depending on the dock. We have the steps which attach on the side below the railing but you can't install from the boat deck. Has anyone designed a ladder attached to the gunnels which can be "flipped down" to allow a safe exit from the boat to the dock? We're both seniors and jumping from the deck or the swim platform to the dock is a accident looking to happen. Thanks.

View the latest post New A/C verses older ones.

88’ Carver 3807. Have 3 A/C units on my boat. 16, 9 and I think 6k btu. I believe they are original. They are freon R-22 units. They do reasonable, but at the peak of summer they struggle. Understandble with condenser water coming from the lake that’s in the 90s. We went to Kentucky to look at a newer carver yesterday. Water may have been a bit cooler, but it was comparable. The two units on that boat were less that a year old. Blowing absolute snowballs. Are the newer units that much better? I thought ours were fine until we experienced those.
