View the latest post Question on 3207, maybe others

What type of wood is used for interior accent/trim? Is it mahogany? It looks too dark for teak.

Thanks.

View the latest post Attachment(s) 2002 Carver 444 Portlight

Hi All, New member and new Carver owner.

On my 2002 Carver 444:
The exterior part of the forward Port shower portlight is missing. I have no idea why someone removed it, but I'm needing a replacement portlight. I've done tons of google searches and come up empty handed. Does anyone know where I can find a proper replacement portlight? I'd really like to keep the exact replacement if I can find one.

On close examination, it looks like some insert that seals against the window is missing. Maybe the entire portlight doesn't need to be replaced.

Thanks in advance for any assist!
Cheers,
Jeff

View the latest post 20 pt light

This may be dumb question. There is a 20pt light wire in the diagram for my 82' monterey. I am rewiring the lights to LED's and am wondering what the 20 pt term means. I assume this is a masthead light.

View the latest post Attachment(s) '98 355 AC V-Berth Leak

Hi Everyone,

I have been fighting this STBD side V-Berth leak for over a year now. With the rain we've had these past few months, it seems my situation has gotten much worse.

The photos I've included show a view looking aft from the STBD side of the V-Berth. The forward head is directly behind that maple bulkhead panel. Hard to see in the photos but the black mildewey area on the bulkhead panel is significant. So we're talking more than just condensation.

Last spring, I rebedded the cleat, 2 stanchion plates and the STBD running lights all of which are above that area in the photos.

After removing the bolster shelf and the upper valance with the curtains, I was able to rule out some things but not sufficiently diagnose where the water is coming from.

Some things I've been able to rule out:
1. The oval window seal seems to be fine. The foam wall covering was dry around that entire perimeter.
2. There doesn't seem to be any trace of dampness or water intrusion from the anchor locker.
3. Using a fancy new borescope with an articulating head, I learned that there isn't much dampness on the AFT side of the bulkhead panel although it is showing some mildew.....just not as intense.
4. There seems to be some buildup of moisture on the lip near the rub rail. This makes me very nervous!
5. Although I feel and see SOME condensation, the foam wall covering UNDER each of the stanchions seems relatively dry.

So............does anyone have any advice or perhaps you've experienced a similar issue? To make matters worse, the only snow we've seen in a couple years is due next weekend! No rebedding project anytime soon!

Lastly, I bought this gem on Amazon Thursday. It arrived yesterday in time for my discovery work today. The articulating head was a serious game changer for fussing with our boat challenges! The video display is crystal clear.

Many Thanks, Greg

View the latest post 86 4207 Galley Bilge Pump Replacement Help

Happy New Year Carver family, we have an 86 4207. We're looking to replace our galley bilge pump, it has been replaced 3 times in the two years that we've owned her. What is your favorite pump and what capacity pump do you recommend? I do not have a freshwater bladder in my galley floor if that's helpful. My layout has a larger forward head/shower and my freshwater tank is under our bed in the aft cabin. Thank you in advance!

View the latest post Attachment(s) 396 MY Dock Side Access Door Hinges

Hi everyone! I’m a new Carver 396 owner and am trying to make a few repairs before spring. My starboard side dock access door is difficult to open and close because the hinges are bent and cracking. I can’t seem to find replacements anywhere so far. They are three-hole 4” x 3” hinges. I’ve attached a pic. Any help on sourcing a replacement would be much appreciated!

View the latest post Adding solar on my 1999 406

Hello all!! I hope everyone had a great holiday and Happy New Year. Has anyone mounted solar panels to their aft deck roof? Can you share what you did and how you did it? Panels and sizes, getting wires to the battery charger, controllers, battery types, sizes and manufacturers. Anything you can share even YouTube videos would be helpful. I'm hoping to make this my 2024 project this year!! As always, thank you for your help and comments.
