View the latest post Attachment(s) 430 Carver Diesel fuel transfer switches

Hello
I am new to the board. I have a 1996 430 Carver cockpit with Cummins Diamond series diesels in it. The boat has 3 fuel tanks. Port Starboard and Auxillary. In the aft closet there are 4 handles for transferring fuel. Currently they are all turn to the starboard side of the boat. The only other way to turn them is pointing up. Can anyone tell what these handles do in when turn in either direction?
Thanks

View the latest post New 1995 Carver Santego 310 Owner

Hello everyone. My name is Joe.
I have been a boater my whole life. My mother went into labor on a ski boat while driving, and pulling my dad on skis. I bought my first runabout when I was 17 and have had a boat in some form or fashion ever since. I am now 39. I recently looked at a 1989 Carver 3067 and really liked it. Due to some mechanical issues we kept looking and ended up purchasing a 1995 Carver Santego 310. I picked it up in SC a little over a week ago, and got it put in the water on Dale Hollow Lake in TN this past weekend. It needs some work, but what used boat doesn't. We enjoyed the first weekend on it and look forward to many more.

View the latest post Carver 404-Engine Alarm Merc 7.4 - Part 2

Hi Everyone

This is a new post regarding what I thought were engine alarms (and may still be). I recently received the boat back from the mechanic with a new "engine knock" sensor, as that is what the diagnostic computer indicated was the issue. Unfortunately, after about 15 minutes of cruising this weekend, the alarm sounded (was above 3000 rpm).

Call is in to the mechanic, but I did a little investigating behind the helm. This is what I see:
1) The alarm seems to be coming from a small black box (maybe 3"x3"x2")
2 There are five leads (black and white mostly) coming out of this box
- one to starboard tach
- one to port tach
- two to the engine sync gauge
- one to a general ground (I think)
There don't seem to be any other leads going anywhere else.

As I mentioned, I am pretty sure the alarm is coming from this source. So, my basic questions / thoughts:
1) Is this even an engine alarm, since there does not seem to be a lead to the engine (although it does go to the gauges, which are getting data from the engine)
2) If I disconnect the gauges from this alarm, It seems like it should kill the alarm.
3) I am assuming the gauges would still work since they would be receiving their data from the engines?

Would be interested on any thoughts on the above.

When the mechanic replaced the knock sensor, due to the codes he was seeing, he felt the engines were preforming without issue and the issue was the knock sensor. That does not sound like the case, but until he figures out what is going on, it would be really nice to run the boat without the alarm on....ugh.

Thanks
Rich

View the latest post Need Advice on Transporting Carver 360

Just bought a 1994 Carver 360 ... with an aft cabin...great boat! I need to move it from where it is on Bainbridge island WA to Portland OR . Its 5 full days by water including 2 days and 165 NM in the Pacific Ocean ...No thanks

The plan is to transport it by semi truck and low boy trailer.

Here is the problem: This boat stands very tall and I need to deconstruct it so that it is 14' max height ...Certainly someone here has some experience doing this or has had to transport their boat by truck. Need to know how easy the fly bridge is going to come off or if anyone has any other tips pointers or advice ...Thank you :help: :banghead:

View the latest post 87 3297 runs slow is this normal?

My 3297 Mariner at 3,000 RPM only does 8-10 knots max. I can get up to 12 knots at 3500 rpm. I have seen other forums of people doing up to 17 knots and faster at 2700 rpm. It has the dual 350 engines and V-Drive. Everything sounds ok when running. Any assistance would be appreciated.
