View the latest post Shore water source

I have a 2000 396MY....my pressure water pump and onboard tanks work very well and I like using the pump verses the shore water source..(fresh water in tanks all the time) .but I like for everything on my boat to work as it should..with that being said ...the shore water source will not work ...I have changed the pressure regulator still to no avail..how do you access the water line behind the pressure regulator? Also is there a shutoff valve that I may be missing?

View the latest post Early Motorola two wire alternator

Anybody have any idea what the ignition wire is for on an alternator found on a 1987 mariner with crusader engines.
Only getting 13 volts output to batteries.
This is a Motorola 50 amp.
It appears to have a mounted external regulator on the back.

I'd like to see if I can fix it.

How do I test the alternators output, unregulated?

View the latest post Attachment(s) 1995 Trojan 350 Cruiser

My husband and I are looking into a new boat. Having grown up on a 1979 32' Trojan F32 Flybridge, I'm partial to Trojans.

I think they hold up well and the first and last things to go on that boat were the engines, which could have been replaced/rebuilt. They were volvo penta's I believe, but this was some time ago.

We are between 2 boats seriously, maybe a third. I wanted to hear from some people who have or have had a 95' Trojan 350 Cruiser.

This one is:
Asking ~43k
Twin 454-XL Cruisaders
675 Engine hours (twin Inboards)
35ft
12ft beam
The hull is stated as "fiberglass reinforced"
Genset, AC/Heat, Ice maker on deck, fridge on deck, sink on deck, full camper canvas (replaced 4 years ago)
Vacuflush head
Head pump and water heater replaced 2 years ago

**The one thing I saw on the boat was water intrusion around the windows in the V-berth. There was a decent amount of it.

We've seen this boat. It has all the bells and whistles. Upholstery doesn't need to be re-done. Everything seems clean.
There was no musty odor, no gas smell in the engine compartment.
It's in dry storage right now though.

Questions:
Is this boat cored or not?
Anyone own this boat and can give me a review of how it's been holding up?
Anything to look out for with this boat?
I've never had Crusader engines, how do they stand up to the hours?
Good/Bad?

And lastly, if anyone knows, how do these boats handle with the crazy weather we get over the great lakes -- I'm on lake Ontario and had to get back to port in 10 ft rollers the other day, on an 18 ft century bowrider (which is one of the things that has us wanting a larger boat).

***We plan on getting a survey done, compression test, and having our independent mechanic check it out before purchase. We're being very picky and have seen close to 30 boats so far.

I've attached photos of the water damage and the over-all boat

(Side note, this boat is built by Carver. Trojan forum told me to go to a Carver forum).

View the latest post WHAT DID I DO????

Just got HOLODECK back from the shop after hitting a rock and damaging a prop. Anyway, I am tired, been going for 36 hours now. Anyway, I placed her in the slip, hooked up the electric cords and before hooking up the water hose, I decided to top off the water tank. Walked over, took the cap off, stuffed the hose inside and turned on the water. Walked away for 3 minutes and started to smell GASOLINE! OH YES! I stuck the hose inside the port gas tank!!!!!! The tank was full, so who knows how much water went in. There was gas all on the water, which evaporated quickly. BUT NOW I HAVE ABOUT 10 gallons of water in the port tank. Anyone else ever do this dumb a$$ed thing? Will I need to drain the entire tank? Can I get a suction hose down the bottom and try and get only the water? Any additive that will mix with the water?

I am so sick to my stomach over this one. I am going to paint the gas caps red tomorrow and the water fill blue. But that doesn't fix this! Suggestions??

View the latest post Noise above 2600 rpm

I have a rubbing or weird grinding noise from my port side when in gear with rpm above 2600. It sounds almost like wood on metal. I hit a log pretty hard a couple of weeks ago and subsequently discovered a water leak around the hose over my shaft log. When I got that fixed, I took off with the engine compartment opened up and my son watching for anything leaking or vibrating. None was noted, but we heard the new noise as soon as I advanced rpm above 2600 while under way. It does not make the noise if in neutral. My diver conducted a thorough inspection of the underside while scraping the bottom and no problems were noted. Does anyone have an idea where I should start looking, or should I just call my mechanic and wait the month before he'll be able to look at it?

View the latest post Port engine problems

Greetings all.

I have a 1998 380 Santego with twin 454's. I bought this boat from an estate after it had been in storage for five years. We ended up replacing all the pump impellers, fuel pumps and did carb kits. The Starboard engine runs great but the Port engine after a short time will shut down At first it waited till I got up to about 3,000 RPM but now will shut down anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 and will not re-start even at 500 rpm. We changed out some of the electronic ignition stuff and even the spark plug wires. Pulling my hair (and my mechanics) out. Anyone else had this problem? Please help. :banghead:

View the latest post Cleaning out the garage and found some stuff....

Hello all. Every few years I clean out my garage and purge what I haven't used in a few years. I found a few things that may be of interest.

Sony rm-x60m stereo remote. Brand new in box with cable, mounting hardware instructions etc.

Raymarine E66014 Bronze thru hull transducer. Brand new in box with instructions etc. Don't ask me what it fits, I don't remember.

Raymarine / Apelco Bronze thru hull transducer with speed and temp. p/n 31-085-1. I believe it equates to an airmar b50. Brand new in box.

NGK BUHX spark plugs. I don't believe they make these any longer. They fit all force motors and who knows what else. I have 16 brand new plugs.

Shakespeare 4357-2, VHF / FM splitter kit new with instructions.

Also, if any of you are into trains in the off boating season, I have a bunch of G scale stuff I am going to sell. A lot of it new and never used. Aristocraft, USA Trains, LGB, and Bachmann Spectruum. Also track, lots never used.

Open to offers, let me know if you are interested in anything.
Thanks
Tom
