View the latest post Sliding Boat Sideways - no thrusters

I watched a video on youtube where the captain of the boat was explaining a technique for moving your boat sideways without the use of a bow or stern thruster. He was saying that if you crank your rudders all the way to on side and engage your engines one if forward and the other one in reverse - your boat will move sideways. I've tried it with my boat, but It kind of worked. I'm not sure if my rudders are to small. Any one else familiar with the maneuver?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Review Mirror for docking

I have a Carver Mariner 350. It is a flybridge style boat with a radar arch. Needles to say, I can't see my transom when backing into my slip. The houseboat next door has side view mirrors mounted on the front deck. I thought it was a good idea. Any one else have mirrors for docking? Thoughts?

View the latest post Sealand Tank Watch III

Anyone know where to get a set of replacement probes for a decent price?
I plan to pull them out of one of my tanks and hopefully clean them and return to service, but I would like to install a new set and close the hole quickly. Using the repaired set (hopefully) for the second tank leaving me with a spare.

Any help is appreciated.

View the latest post What new electronics would you add to your boat ?

Was sitting on the deck looking thru a 50 page glossy catalogue ( somebody marine) of all the current marine electronics from one of the manufacturers.....wow there really is some neat stuff out there now, from fish finders, night vision cameras, touch screens, all sorts of engine data interfaces........endless.

So I was wondering what would you get for your boat if money was no object........ :beergood:

View the latest post Pump Out Adapter Threads

I have a 1986 3607 aft cabin with two holding tanks - but can't seem to find a threaded adapter or pipe size to thread into the deck plate. Any idea on what size and threads they maybe?

I have tried the SeaLand Nozalls without luck. So for now I use the pressure based nozzle with shield, but it can be awkward if I am not tied up on the same side as the deck plates.

My HIN prefix is CDRT

View the latest post A/C Water Flow Adequate?

My 1986 3297 Mariner has a reverse cycle heating/cooling unit. When I turned it on I turned the starting knob to "start", waited 12 - 20 seconds, and then turned the knob to "run." Panel light came on and fan started pushing chilled air, soon reaching 68 degrees (F). I then checked the overboard outlet from the AC unit. I describe the flow as "weak" , barely enough flow for the water to clear the hullside. Is this okay? Other units in my marina have a lot more pressure behind their raw water outlets. Curious, I found the through hull, the sea strainer and the pump. I opened the strainer case and removed the wire basket which contained a small fish and some leaves and some silt. Surprisingly, the amount of water I got through the hose to the through hull was not a lot (I overlooked the shut-off  ). In any event, the cleaning made no difference in the flow.

Query: Is my weak flow as compared to the other guys (boats) in the marina significant?
Should I be cleaning the hoses or the through hull, like maybe blowing air through it?
Is it OK to operate with this amount of water running through the cooling system?
Is the 68.5 degree (F) output common and correct?

Thanks for any input, I sure don't want to give up A/C at this time of year in MN.

View the latest post 366 / 396 layouts

I know the 396 came in 3 different layouts...full dinette, partial dinette, no dinette. How about the 366? Was it offered with no dinette?
