View the latest post Crusader 270 cuts out

Hello, starboard engine starts and runs fine below 3000 rpm but when I run at 3400 rpm after 15 - 30 minutes sync gauge starts to jump to port then engine cuts out completely. Will not re start right away. It will restart after 30 minutes or so and run fine below 3000 rpm. 1984 270 that has been converted to electronic ignition ( petronix ignitor ) Seems like a heat issue but temp gauge never rises past 160. I changed fuel filters.

View the latest post Mystery switch

Hey again! I have another question for you smarties!! We have a switch that looks like a light switch, that doesn't appear to do anything. (1999 Carver 356). It is at the stairs between the dinette and kitchen area. Their are 4 switches (that the website identified as light switches) but this one has a tiny blue bulb under it so that you can tell the switch is on. Almost like a light in the engine compartment that has the indacator lite by it in case you forget it's on since you can't see it? I have looked everywhere I can think of but can't seem to find what it controls. I searched the engine compartment thinking maybe the bulb is burnt out, but I can't locate a light down there. I tried to trace the wires from under there but I lose it in a cluster of wires. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!! :-)

View the latest post 2006 56 Voyager TV Lift Problem

Hello - after a lightning strike at the marina my 2006 56 Voyager salon TV lift no longer works and is stuck in the "down" position (stowed). Has anyone had a similar problem or had to access this lift mechanism? I can see the TV from the side by removing the stairs to the bridge, and I can access the lift controller only by removing the couch cushion at the lower helm, but I cannot figure out how to access the lift motor/mechanism itself. It looks like it may require removing the entire range and hood, but before I attempt that I thought I'd ask some other owners. Any help is appreciated - thanks!

View the latest post Power cords and adaptors

Morning. Just curious if there is any market among Carver owners for 50 amp 125 volt power cords and various adapters. Perhaps everyone has converted to 50 amp 250 volt cords.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

View the latest post Engine alignment (left to right) - Mariner

What is the trick to shifting the engine left or right for alignment? I have lossened all four bolts that secure the engine lateral adjustment rods. The engine needs to rotate clockwise slightly to line up with the prop shaft. I tried using a crowbar and prying against the engine and the mount. It did not budge. Any suggestions?

I have a Mariner with a velvet transmission and direct mount Walter v drive. I can not turn the propeller shafts by hand. I'm assuming the engines need alignment.

View the latest post Windlas grease

I recently serviced my Maxwell 1200 windlas. I think I over greased the brass clutch plates as it is not wanting to pull up chain. Does anyone know how much grease should be applied?

I have a 1989, 42' aft cabin. my Carver name plates are in pretty bad shape! They appear to be made of zinc?? Also, 42 emblems don't look too good. They are NOT decals, any ideas of where I may get new ones?

View the latest post Attachment(s) 356 aux gas tank/ Need to siphone old gas out?

I have owned this 356 for two years now. The old owners owned the boat for five years and told me they never used the aux tank in the rear. That's seven years the aux tank has not been used. The fuel gauge reads less than 1/4 tank. I talked to the original owner of the boat and he told me he used it all the time. Wanted to insure myself nothing was wrong with the tank before I got too carried away.
I want to siphon every bit of fuel out of the tank before I use it. The boat is in the water of course, so the tank is lower than where I will be siphoning from. I was wondering if any one had an idea of the best way to go about this? By the spec sheet there is 7 ft. of hose from filler cap in the rear of boat to the tank. Or should I be thinking of the opposite direction and try to drain it from the fuel line at the supply valves, and how would I go about this?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated... Bill

I have a 98 Mariner with Crusader 454xi.
Has anyone added an aftermarket temp alarm to their engines?
Looking to install temp alarm for the engines but not sure where to install the sensor.
