View the latest post Docking

Ok. Throwing this out there. Our dock is a challenge at best. Getting very good at it but on those windy days, nerve-racking.
People are talking about adding a stern thruster. Worth it? On our 360 we have a bow thruster already. Just wonder if that investment would be worth it and if so, what brands ? Thanks guys......

View the latest post Norcold fridge short cycling

According to the paperwork with the Mariner boat it had a model DE828. But now I pulled the fridge and it appears to have been replaced.. The one I have issues with has only one compressor and has CFC free refridgerant 134 A. The label says Sawafuji Model SK-515M,50hz, Lot no 02-1-16. On a bar code label it says DE461 and OIN-0168. It short cycles on both12 volts and 110 volts. I tried disconnecting the cooling fans and nothing changed. I am not sure where the thermostat is located in order to try and hot wire it. Where do I go from here?

View the latest post -Fuel pump help please!

Hi all, so we've got a 1987 4207 with twin 7.4 Crusaders
Port fuel pump was getting worse, so decided to replace both
Ordered the Carter 97843, flange number 60502
Long story short, we ended up ordering three of these and all three are going back to the vendor
Original Carter pumps lasted 35 years...they have a brass alloy arm with a visible spring under the arm
These newer pumps have no spring and are black steel arms
Each of the arms would get pushed by the pushrod until they bent just ever so slightly...like just enough that the pushrod would run out stroke to the point that they were not able to literally get enough pump diaphragm movement
So, here we are with 3 faulty pumps.
Problem is, trying to find a different one that I know for sure will work.
I know some folks have done the electric conversion and I'm not a fan of that route as I believe in the mechanical pump since it's worked for so long with no issues
Please chime in with what pumps you've had tremendous success with!!
Thank you

View the latest post Shower faucet for 1996 325 aft cabin

I need to replace the shower faucet of my 1996 325 aft cabin. I removed the faucet and the width, center to center, is 3.5 inches. I cannot find a single replacement faucet anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find one?

I am open to user error, there are many 4” faucets out there, but I am measuring from the center of the stem to the center of the stem and getting 3.5”.

Thanks!
Drew

View the latest post New Carver 2004 396 owner

Hi, My wife Josee and I, are new Carver 396 owners, we have a lot to learn.
We are in the process of outfitting our Carver to boat the Great American Loop, of which our intentions are to start this adventure from Midland Ontario, Canada starting the 1st of August.
We are purchasing Starlink for internet service. We would love to know if any other 396 owners have installed this, and wondering where and what mount they used?

View the latest post AC Drains 1999 Voyager 450

The manual says the forward and master stateroom AC units drain condensate into the grey water tank. But no mention of the salon and pilot house units which are located under the galley sink/cabinets. Do these units drain condensate directly into the bilge? When I’m onboard running AC for 24 hours, I’m getting couple gallons of water in the bilge and I can’t see where it’s coming from. No leak in fresh water system.

View the latest post Attachment(s) CAT 3116 Air Filter

I'm preparing to tackle my first oil change and was going to do the air filters as well. When I go to the CAT parts site and enter the air filter part number (7W-5040) I see the filter, but I'm not seeing the outer foam filter. Does anyone know if that comes with the air filter, or do I need to purchase that separately? I'm struggling to find a part number for it.

The ones currently on the engine are probably 30 years old and seem brittle. Thanks!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Twin pleasurecraft 302 water pump orientation

I cant find an answer to this dilemma. A friend removed port side water pump, I’m replacing, not marked up or down, a sherwood G21 pump. Put it in the same as the starboard engine, engine rotation is left for port and right for starboard. Did I put it in opposite? Also, the impeller roasted. Thru hull is open. There was water flowing in the sea strainer at first..either i put it in backward, it’s defective or there was an air leak, what else? Mostly wondering if it should be opposite of the other engine, but it didnt seem to want to fit that direction.
