View the latest post Starboard bilge blower replacement
- Posted by: waybomb » May 27th, 2017, 5:11 pm
- Forum: The Project Center
Thank goodness my wife is a size 8.
Starboard bilge blower went out.
It's right next to the genny fuel tank, forward of the engine.
No way I could get at it from the engine room.
So from the cabin unscrewed the compartment that hold the shore power / genny relays.
From there I was able to remove the old one.
Of course, the screw holes are different on the new one.
So had to get the wife to climb over the engine and transmission and the two of us were able to get the job done. It's good she's a handy mechanically minded woman.

View the latest post 350 Mariner ice maker on bridge
- Posted by: pitshop » May 26th, 2017, 6:48 pm
- Forum: Carver Yachts Forum - Model Discussion
Hello, all,
Just signed papers on a 2000 350 Mariner this afternoon! Won't be able to splash it for another 2-3 weeks, due to repairs that were discovered at survey, but looking forward to this new adventure. I did have my first (of many, I'm sure) question: has anybody removed the ice maker on the bridge and replaced it with a fridge? If so, where did you get the fridge? Any info is greatly appreciated and have a great Memorial Day weekend!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Furniture removal from a 3607

Hope someone has some experience with this... I have a 1988 3607 and I want to take the factory club chair from the salon. It looks like I'll have to remove the stair railing, door and door frame at the very least. Has anyone on the forum done this before? Thanks for your help in advance.

- Forum: Introduce Yourself!
Hello,
I joined this forum a couple of months ago after making an offer on a 1986 3607. The deal finally closed this week, so I guess it's time to introduce myself. Having grown up with runabouts, this is my first cruiser, so I have much to learn. We have 2 young daughters, and I wanted them to enjoy the water before they have to start thinking about summer jobs. The boat is currently on Lake Simcoe, but will be moving to the Kawarthas shortly.
I have already been enjoying the wisdom and ideas on this forum--thanks to all contributors.
Ian

View the latest post 366 vs the 355/356

So, if I understand correctly, the 355 and 356 are really the same boat, just that the 356 is an updated design.
Where does this put the 366? Seems to be available in the same years (early 2000s) and close to the same size. Similar layout (aft cabin). Why does it exist? What advantages would it have over the 355/356 vessels?

- Forum: General Boating Discussion
I bought a nice new electro-polished stainless anchor. It needs a nice shiny stainless anchor chain. Seems most are no-brand Chinese junk stainless.
The question is - who is a reasonably priced vendor that sells only premium stainless chain? I only need 10 feet or so, plus the attaching hardware.

View the latest post Carver 33 SS Raymarine autopilot

- Forum: Electronics & Navigation
I am getting ready to move my autopilot compass. I currently have it mounted under the dash via the opening behind the front seat cushion.
I was hoping someone here already has one mounted successfully somewhere that I could mimic. I am thinking on the front just in front of the flybridge front seat if I can get a wire to there. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

View the latest post Raw Water Impellers
- Posted by: mjk1040 » May 23rd, 2017, 10:19 pm
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
So per Viper's advice I waited until launch and tackled the raw water impellers. Port engine was running at 140 degrees, but I was getting steam at the 140 temp. Pulled out what appeared to be a Sherwood 10615 Impeller, and sure enough a few of the fins were broken, but all there. Put all back in and ran the engine up to the 140 temp again, this time no steam appeared. Hopefully problem solved. Even though I had no issue with the starboard side engine, figured it only took a hour to change out one impeller, why not do them both, then I know when they were both changed last. Well the starboard impeller was in tack, not a broken fin, but was showing signs of aged fatigue, cracks in the fins but in darn good shape. Now this impellers fins appeared to be twice the thickness as those of the Sherwood 10615. Since one of the previous owners had the spares already, I put the Sherwood 10615's in. Now I will try to find out what make the thicker finned impeller is. The other thing I noticed while looking for my next set of impellers, that several different number of fins per impeller. These were 12 fin impellers. Is more fins more water flow? Should it have 10's or 8's? What other brands of impellers are there besides Sierra, Sherwood, etc? Is paying more for a thicker fin impellers worth the extra expense or should one just plan on changing them out every X years and use the less expensive thinner fin impellers?
