View the latest post Best way to pull port engine on a 1993 voyager 370


Greetings all, I am new to the forum. Last year I rebuilt the starboard engine and it was easy enough as I only had to remove the galley flooring BUT we did have to almost fully pull the engine apart before we lifted it up an out. The starboard engin is under the dinette and I am wondering if I can lift the whole engine out without dismantling it. Has anyone had experience doing this on the year and model?

Hi all

Had the boat for about a month now and have a couple of questions:

Four fuel tanks and four fuel tank filling ports so I assume I have to fuel at four locations? (this has to be a dumb question)

There is a place to connect a hose while at the dock in the port side stern. I assume this means I don't have to use my water tanks for fresh water while I'm at the dock? How do I bypass the tanks so I know I'm using the water coming from the hose?

Vacuum pump for toilets runs periodically, any common places to check for a leak?

Best way to clean a bilge? I assume just a light de-greaser, rags and some cool contortionist moves.

Do you use your various cockpit carpets? why? do you keep them down or store them and if you store where?

I never had a bow thruster before so beside moving the boat side to side, how else is it used? In conjunction with screws/throttle while turning? Underway?

When I run water in the bathroom of the master bedroom, where does it discharge? I can hear a pump run but don't see where the water leaves the boat or where the pump is located?

A friend of mine has a ~2004 356. When they surveyed and since then when using a moisture meter near the anchor winch they got indications of "moisture" in the area around the winch. They took off the winch in the off season to check for leaks and moisture and found none. Let it dry out for months and then reinstalled the winch. They still get the indications from the meter. I don't know what brand or model meter they are using.

I'm thinking that there might be a different density of core used around the winch vs the regular balsa coring found everywhere else. Is this possible that there is maybe some high density plywood there vs the balsa for strength to mount the winch? Has anyone been inside that area of the decking to know?

is there a shutoff valve for the icemaker? If so, will it shutoff the faucet in the wet bar also?

Looks like Xintex has finally made some significant changes the their CO detector. Very low 4ma draw and 7 year life span among other things. Direct replacement including same mounting holes as the old. After working the bugs out last season, this season will see a new and improved battery bank. The stock bank is Batt 1- Starting/house, Batt 2- starting/house, Battery 3 genny.

I am going to try and get a set of 6V GC batteries set in place by using a group 24 starting battery for position 1 on the selector switch. I would use this battery exclusively for stating each of my thirsty big blocks. I will then remove the #2 battery and place the GC batteries in that space by turning them sideways. That will leave enough room for the dedicated Genny battery, and hopefully, more space for another set of 6V GC batteries. I will be replacing the charger with a ProMariner 1250P 50 Amp 3 bank charger. I will access battery 1 and the house (battery 2) by opening up the Master Battery Selector Switch and running lead one to the lug for battery 1 on the rear of the switch, and the same for lead 2, at the back of the switch. As for the Genny battery, I would also access that from the rear of its own selector ON/OFF switch. This leaves me with the single ground lead from the charger. Do I run the ground to a terminal block, and then run a lead to each negative terminal of each bank, OR could I just run the negative lead to either the port or starboard engine, which should, in theory close the battery circuits and charge fully. I will have 60 AMP MAXI fuses at each connection on the battery switch and also at the positive side of the genny battery. I wish to ensure that I can stay on the hook overnight, have plenty of juice to run the fridge and lights and an inverter for todays no energy using LED TV. So, I would start on position "A". run and warm engines, charge battery, then move selector switch on "B" for the rest of the day.

Thoughts welcomed, comments welcomed and also any ideas or things I may have missed??

Very nice condition 1982 Carver 3007 Aft Cabin. Twin Crusader 220 V8's power this good looking vessel and can carry you quite a distance with almost 180 gallons of fuel tank capacity. 30 gallon fresh water storage as well would allow you to be out an entire weekend if you want. This boat is a full 30' and has the interior space of a much larger boat with it's great Carver designed layout. Forward cabin has a 7' berth with plenty of storage in the cabinets and closet, full galley with sink, microwave, fuel or electric stove, AC/DC Fridge and freezer, and tons of storage space. Stand up shower is separate from the head and both work great. Salon area has the original fold out couch in great condition as well as indoor helm station. The shown GPS / Fish finder combo is NOT included, it is brand new with updated detailed Great Lakes maps and route guidance and can be included for additional $. The rear cabin has one twin and one full size bunk, one on each side of the cabin with a spacious dresser and another closet for storage. The Flybridge has original sheep's hide upholstery and could use updated, but has a few years left for sure. All the controls work in both helm stations. Included will be everything you will need to cruise this boat legally and some additional comfort equipment we have found useful (brand new life jackets, fenders, lines, line hooks, etc). All canvas and bimini cover is only a few years old and in great condition, matching color deck chairs and even fiberglass safety doors for the rear railing for kids or dogs. Swim platform was completely replaced at the beginning of this season! It is incredibly sturdy and would hold 4-5 adults easily. The bottom paint is also brand new this year, (neither swim platform or paint work is shown in pictures) This boat has a window AC unit for when you are hooked to shore power and shore water inlet.

Things just purchased last season:

50' shore power, Marine radio with GPS, Handheld VHF, cabinet hardware, LED lighting in salon, battery tender, spark plugs.

The motors have both been tuned up this last season. They run GREAT! All work done by licensed marina where it was winter stored. This boat is sitting in the water right off the Maumee and ready to view!
