View the latest post Trim Tab Brace

I just bought a 2005 Carver 396 Motor Yacht. When we pulled it out for the survey, I found both trim tabs to have a metal brace on them as shown in the picture. No one in the yard knew why they were there.
Does anyone have any experience with these braces? They do not slide, but at bolted tight.

View the latest post securing Kayak/ Paddle board on front rails

Hi All, curious to see how folks are securing kayaks/ stand up paddle boards to their front railings? We have a 29' Monterey if it matters.

I found this online:

seems pretty pricey for rolled pieces of metal covered in foam with mounting brackets. Has anyone rigged up something similar or know of different options?

View the latest post Kohler Generator

I'm new to this forum so I'm not show if this is the correct place for this. I have a 1986 Carver 3207 and was wondering if anyone knew where to get an owners manual for this generator. It is the original generator. Thank you for the help.

View the latest post Refrigerator replacement

We have not been able to find anyone to fix our refrigerator and Marvel has said they have been discontinued. Has anyone found a replacement for the this refrigerator? It is a stacked freezer/refrigerator unit, and the freezer runs great! This is in our 2001 - 506 aft cabin.

Aquayacht Harbor's tech worked on it and refilled with whatever type freon they use now, which lasted a few days, and he could not find the leak. I understand that if there is any moisture introduced it can destroy the heat exchange and compressor. So I think we need to replace.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Noisy Starboard transmission...rich engine

Hi,

My starboard transmission on my 405 is noisy. After reading all of the great posts here, I decided to start with the engine and make sure it is running right before proceeding further aft. I replaced the cap and rotar and the replaced the plugs. I made little wooden rack so I could put the removed plugs in the correct sequence for inspection. After removing them I found a website that offered pictures of spark plugs in various conditions. (after removal). Obviously from comparing mine to the pictures, all are showing rich. They are basically black and smell like fuel.

Now, what might be the cause of black smelly plugs? I have read that things like fuel injectors, throttle body, wrong plugs, wrong gap......and various other things. We have owned the boat for about six months and are fixing things one at a time.

The engine runs and idles OK, although our marina mechanic says he can feel it vibrating when he puts his hands on the risers.

All ideas are welcome....thanks

View the latest post Port engine spooling up slower than starboard.

My Carver 444 Cummins 370 port engine is spooling up slower than Starboard engine after reaching 2000 rpms. The port engine start coming up to full rpm after approx a minute or so as the boat begins to plane. I recently had shafts and castle bearings replaced but suspect turbo charger. Any thoughts?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Wanted....Switch Plates

I am looking for the switch plates on a 3607 helm.

They are the ones with lights, fuel, voltage etc.

They are about 3 x 6 made from aluminum, I think.

I've been looking for about 4 years with absolutely no luck.

Hopefully someone here has a set sitting around, or can direct me to where I might find them.

You can see them here in this picture.......not mine but similar.
