View the latest post trailer for a 32 foot Mariner

Trailer shopping for a trailer for a Carver 32 foot Mariner, I am upsizing from a 27 footer. Where to find deals on used or new trailers? Also what else do I need to look for? And yes I am well aware of the kind of truck needed for the task. It is hard to find a trailer included with almost any 32 footer. I have spent many years hauling oversize heavy construction equipment so I do have a little experience in that. All comments welcome.

View the latest post water leak

Hi all i have a Carver Voyager 530 and have a water leak. The wooden panel on top of the washer dryer units is swollen. The water seems to be coming above these units... would anyone happen to know what is above these units. Is it the dishwasher in the galley or is the area next to the water heater in engine room the place i should be looking in .. seems like this has been going on for a while as damage is quite old looking but still wet today..
Happy boating

View the latest post 1988 Carver 4207 aft Cabin wiring

My 1988 4207's bow bilge pump, bowhead shower, ac pump and other wiring under the floor in the galley area was switched, rigged, spliced, diced and rerouted with some wires not even connected by an earlier owner and an emergency quick fix by a shade tree electrician. I can't find a wiring schematic for this area and am completely befuddled. Will someone be kind enough to send me a pic or two of their setup if you are happy with your rig?
Thank you in advance.
Ron

View the latest post ignition fuse size?

Hey all,

This is embarrassing or maybe I'm getting senile but I can't recall or never knew what size fuse to use on my 1988 4207 Carver instrument and ignition circuitry panel. While checking around I've found all sizes 15amp, 20's, mixed and matched, ceramic and glass. One of my dual helm stations keep blowing them so while tracking that problem I'd like to change them all out, upper and lower.

Thank for any help.
Ron

View the latest post Guess Spotlight

Hello all,

I have to replace the Guess spotlight on my 2001 Carver 404. I do not know the model number however it has a switch for rotation and off, flood and spot.

Can anyone suggest a replacement that will allow me to use the same wiring.

Thank you

View the latest post Attachment(s) Stairs carpet - GONE!

We finally got around to removing the carpet from the stairs leading from outside to the salon. It had gotten pretty bad in spite of our attempts to clean it - so out it came!

Underneath was just plywood, coated in carpet glue so I decided to start from scratch and rebuild the treads and try to dress up the risers. We'll, here's what we ended up with!

I used a 3/4" stain grade pine and applied five coats of Minwax Polyshades. I had to use 2 different colors and layered them to get the color we wanted.

For the risers we used a grasscloth wallpaper from Lowes and just sanded the risers smooth before applying.

Overall, it turned out very nice. Now on to ripping out ALL of the carpet in the salon!!!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Acrylic sliding door maintenance on Carver 355

I finally got tired of my salon door. It was so hard to open and close.
I took the bottom track apart and cleaned it. I’m going to lube with a plastic silicone lube. Then I will put it back.

It was relatively easy to remove the bottom track. I removed the 3 Phillips screws from the bottom of the door. This released the sliding part of the track from the door. I then removed the 4 screws holding the track to the boat. I had to slide the door to get to all 4 screws. Then I pried gently to release the gasket from the track.

It was filthy. I vacuumed the slot the door rides in, then took the track to the sink and washed it with soap and water.

Now off to the store to find some lube.

View the latest post Seawolf 520 operation help

Hello again. Got my buddy's seawold 520 windlass all freed up and operational. On the carver 3227. There is only 1 foot pedal to operate it. It is looking to me as it is only power up and gravity down. I do not see how to release it to freewheel and lower the anchor. Thank you all

View the latest post Hello Everyone! Buying a 330 Aft Cabin

Hi everyone! I’m new to the forum and looking forward to becoming a Carver owner. We are in the process of buying a 1991 330 Aft Cabin. My wife and I love the layout and the amount of space Carver packed into a 33-footer. The survey identified a few minor issues and one possible big issue. The surveyor reported that upon opening the salon door he faintly smelled gasoline. We have been on the boat twice and did not notice an odor. I have not owned a boat with engines under the salon so I’m wondering if this is normal. The surveyor checked the engines and visible areas of the tank for leaks, but all looked well. We have a sea trial tomorrow and I have asked that the gas tanks be filled to check the fuel fill hoses and top of the tanks. I bought an endoscope to check the back and top. I wouldn’t think aluminum tanks in a freshwater boat would be a problem. Possibly the fill hoses are degrading and are more permeable. Does anyone know if the fuel fill hoses are accessible?

Also, the survey noted that the escape hatch in the aft cabin appears to be fixed. Is that normal? Maybe we are missing something.

This is a great forum, and we are very appreciative of all the information you share.
