View the latest post Waste and Water fill cap replacements

New to me 1988 28' Mariner Voyager. 1 owner boat.

He lost the waste and water caps. The replacements he has are a water one that is too small, and a waste one that is too big.

I've searched this forum as well as around the net, Perko and Attwood sites.

I measured the inside diameter of the deck fittings with a micrometer with the waste coming in at 1.749 - 44.38 mm and the water at 1.769 inches 44.98mm.

I suspect the one that is too big is just the wrong thread size, as there are 1-3/4 inch ones out there (rare but there). It had been cranked partly into place but required large water pump pliers to remove I found mention of Atwood as having an odd thread, but found nothing on their site 1-3/4". On eBay I found a 1-3/4 for a Perko speced as fitting a much larger Carver than mine.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

View the latest post Factory Rule KL-990 Epoxycop bottom paint

Recently purchased a 1997 Carver 405 ml. It appears the bottom has it's original bottom paint with no additional paint added. Boat has been kept in northern Michigan, in cold clear water. The hull survey found a sound dry bottom. The bottom was power washed and acid etched. I am told ready for bottom paint. The water line has some paint chipped off and will require additional sanding prior to paint. The rest of the bottom has very little paint missing.

My question is what paint is compatible with the "Rule KL-990 Epoxycop"? The paint is no longer manufactured, (not environment friendly) and I cannot find information on a substitute or replacement? Must I stay with Epoxy since the Rule is Epoxy? Any recommendation would be appreciated.

Dan

View the latest post Attachment(s) Whats behind this door

Any idea whats behind the black wall on this cabinet (where I use it for hanging keys)? I am planning on removing it and using it for storage or something. There was same thing on the other one next to it with radio, opened it up, and move radio up some and huge storage came from it. So before I tear this up, I thought I would ask if anyone knows? Its the one just before aft cabin of carver 356. Thanks

View the latest post VHF Antennas

Looking to replace my 8' fiberglass antenna with a loaded base type antenna or a shorter fiberglass. We boat mainly on the Finger lakes in NY and maybe lake Ontario. Tired of having to put the antenna up and down all the time when traveling. Anyone been there and done this and have any input? Mike

View the latest post New to the forum-Rollnd

HI all-Have had my 1988 Santego 27 for almost 20 years, and serviced it for the original owner since almost new. Has been out of the water and on blocks since the crash. Finally ready to use it again, in the process of pulling both engines and resealing everything and replacing all the rubber parts. Have spare engines and out drives so is mainly labor. Also replacing all the plastic throug hulls, servicing the a/c, etc. Plan on using her in fresh water from now on, Mississippi and Tennessee rivers. I kept this boat because I've always been able to trailer her and never leave in the water over long periods of time. Happy to find this group, hope you all have a great holiday season! Rolland

View the latest post Location of Water Shut-off

This is my first winter with my 1996 Carver Aft Cabin 355. I think I will be okay with a small electric heater in the cabin to keep things from freezing. (We are on Pickwick Lake between TN, AL and MS) EXCEPT, the swim platform shower seems susceptible to freezing. Can anyone tell me where the shutoff valve is located for the swim platform shower?

View the latest post Fireboy BB350

I was sluicing around in my bilge and saw the original FIREBOY BB350 fire extinguisher system. YEP! Looks original and untouched, gauge reading charged. That makes this 20 years old. Are there any regs as to having these checked or something?

Does anyone have a picture of the switch layout and labels for a 1987 santego with twin 180's ? Mine are faded so bad they cannot be read. I just recently purchased the boat as a project. Thanks in advance!
