View the latest post Changing Velvet V drive oil

Neighbor has a 1989 Santego, with crusaders and Velvet V Drives. Oil was not dextron or type F, looked to be hydraulic oil. I suggested he change it out to dextron. Any one have an issue with that?

View the latest post who's ready for winter

Well its Oct. 4th, we are in the parking lot, and just finished compound/polish /wax hull....we are now ready for shrink, will spend the next week getting my back to recover from this....last year at this time we were still boating, had a nice fall cruise around Beausoliel in the middle of Oct.
All being well we are ready to go in the spring with very little drama I hope.So this is how it goes for those of us in the frozen north..... if the dollar gets better maybe even get to Florida again this winter. :beergood: :beergood:

View the latest post Crusader 8.1 eng oil

Good Day Everyone,
Just purchased a 2002 356 aft cabin with crusader engines...looking to change the oil. Many articles on engine oils. I hear the 8.1 has flat cams and needs an oil with special additive (SJ) . Looking to do the correct thing here. What oil is best for that motor.. Engines hours are 550 . Your help is greatly appreciated.

View the latest post Fuel Gauge not synching

I have a Riviera with dual fuel tanks and a single gauge. There is a toggle switch that switches the gauge from the left and right tanks. My problem is that one side shows on the gauge but when toggled to the other the gauge needle goes below the gauge and does not register.

What do I need to do to synch the gauge to both tanks? I believe it's the sending unit. Does anyone know what type of unit I need?

View the latest post Head Vent Filters

Any of you with a 355 AC or 356 AC know where exactly the charcoal filters on the waste tank vents are. I haven't come across them and the book recommends changing them seasonally. Mike

View the latest post Marina Contracts?

Do any of you feel like marinas and their contracts have us by the dock lines? Mine has multiple pages of rules and regulations and basically claim no responsibility at all. If you don't winter with them, they won't guarantee your previous years slip will be yours again. And it goes on and on.

View the latest post Carver 405

I am having a problem with both engines on my 405. Both engines start and run perfectly. However, if I run them for any extended period of time and cut them off, neither engine will start when it is time to return to shore. I am losing the fuel prime on both engines and am able to start them only after manually repriming both engines. Any suggestions?

View the latest post 96 Carver 355 AC Windless

Can anyone help me with this one?
I'm new to boating now completing my first season with a '96 Aft Cabin. Last weekend, while retrieving some excess anchor line, a snarl jammed the flywheel of the Maxwell RC 80 WINDLESS. I immediately lost power to my control circuit (helm and foot switches). The circuit diagram shows a 3 amp fuse/breaker in that circuit. I've torn the boat apart and can't find that breaker or in-line fuse. Does anyone have any thoughts as to where to look. The most obvious place (with the battery selector switch) has a place for a WINDLESS reset button, but no button.
Thanks,
Bill Nugent
