View the latest post Carver 3608

Hi all, can any one provide some info for the Carver 3608, 7.4L , 1991. I did some search on the internet, but did not find much info. There is one that I might be interested in, they have 2 staterooms and 2 heads and we like the layout. But before travelling to see it, I would like some comments.

Thank in advance.

View the latest post 2000 Carver 404 - Engine Sync Question

Hi Fellow Boaters

I have a Carver 404 with twin Mercruiser 7.4 V8 engines (340HP). The engines have around 400 hours each and with the exception of a valve assembly rebuild on one piston on the port side have always preformed well. My issue is::

* Since I first bought the boat two years ago, in order to maintain a center line on my sync gauge, I have always needed to run the port side engine about 200 to 300 rpm faster.
* Performance wise, it does not seem to have any impact on the boats propulsion performance.

My questions are:

* Is this common and just part of two different engines that operate and are tuned differently?
* Do others out there always have the same rpm at the sync gauges centerline?
* Is the point of the sync gauge that in fact in order to sync you do need to balance the engines performance and they will operate at different RPM in order to be in sync?
* Any other thoughts would be great.

Engines are not exactly my thing, so any thoughts explained at a fifth grade level would be great :)

Thanks
Rich

View the latest post Greetings fron the Jersey Shore

I've been arounds boats all my life, but thanks to my son's insistence, we have our first big one! A 2000 Aft Cabin, 326.
My son is a professional mariner and we plan to do some inter-coastal journeys as well as just local fishing and recreational use. My experience has always been with 24 foot and smaller cuddy cabins and runabouts. This is certainly a real learning experience.
Happy to be here and looking forward to sharing info and learning from my fellow members. :captain2:

View the latest post Need Volvo diesel tech advice, elecric and mechanical

I am in the midst of buying a 2007 41CMY with Volvo D6 370's. Under 500 hrs. She's been on brackish and fresh water. The vessel doesn't have a ton of electronics on it which I don't mind. I'm not paying for something I will replace anyway. Being a novice to diesels, however I'd like to have diagnostics display such as the EVC to be installed which will show status and codes then perhaps if possible I'd like to run data from through NMEA2000 to a raymarine or similar display. Is all this possible? Do the LCD windows on the tachs have codes or only hours? I downloaded the D6 manual and it doesn't have much information on retrofits or what displays give the codes. Actually I need to locate a knowledgeable and available Volvo tech in the north Georgia Area. Not easy to find apparently. Also could use the advice of experience in this forum. Any help with part or all the above?

View the latest post A/C Flush out

Hello, I am flushing out my air conditioner on my 2005 39MY. There are 3 discharge points on the boat. One on the bow and 2 aft under the swim platform, one port one starboard. No matter what I do I cannot get the aft port side to flow like the other two. Just wondering if I still have a clog or is this the last one on the line and just gets the remaining discharge. The A/C does seem to be working fine now.
Thanks

View the latest post New Carver Santego Owner

My wife and I just purchased a 1989 Carver 34 Santego. Very excited about the purchase but I have tons of questions as I am new to this boat. It is powered by twin 454's. The survey came out really good. I want to add a few things and would love some advise. I really want to put a IN-Hull Transducer in for fishing so I don't have to drill holes in the Hull and can do it with the boat in the water as it is not ready for bottom paint yet. Any suggestions for location or personal experience as why I should or should not do it. How do the settee's become beds. I think maybe I am missing some pieces. Is the radar arch hollow for running wires? I will stop there for now and thanks in advance to any of the other Carver Owners that can help a newbie out.

View the latest post Fuel Stabilizers and Fogging

In past yearsI have used Seafoam as my fuel stabilizer. It was recommended to me by one of my marina mates where I kept our last boat. I have just carried on with it since we bought the Carver. I add the appropriate amount in the fuel and go for a last run to let it work through the system. I have never had any issues with either of the boats but I always like to question things to make sure I am doing it right.

Both of my boats have been fuel injected and I have not included any kind of fogging in my winterizing process. I would like to get some feedback on this and where in winterizing process it should be done, before flushing the engines, after, during??? Also what do you all use. I read about the mixing up of a cocktail of gas, stabilizer, and 2 cycle engine oil.

Thanks in advance
Fraser

View the latest post tv UFO amplifier location,2001 350 mariner

So just spent quite some time trying to sort out all the cable wiring behind the entertainment centre, with the result being, we can't find the tv antenna amp. There is no indicator light lit on the antenna itself and no tv signal to tv. Its a Dantronics UFO and it all appears to be factory install judging by cable idents.

I am assuming the cable labelled boost is coming from wherever that amp is .Checked continuity from antenna to boost cable ( ok), v/berth (ok) and input from transom (ok).

Does anyone know where they put the amp?? Thanks :help:

View the latest post 1981 - 1982 Carver 3007 Aft Cabin Boats

Seeking information from other 81 - 82 3007 Aft Cabin owners.

I purchased my 3007 last August so I only managed to get it out once. Did not have much time to experiment with throttle settings.

This year I got her out a few times before my transmission problem popped up. When I took my vacation a couple of weeks ago I ran there at hull speed or about 8 MPH. It was about a 36 mile trip and I used just under 1/4 tank of fuel. On my trip home I decided to throttle up a bit. I ran at 2600 RPM or about 14 MPH. This seemed to me to be either close to or the sweet spot for this boat.

The run home was really good. The engines sounded good and everything seemed to be in sync. I have tried other throttle settings. In an earlier trip I ran at 3200 RPM or about 19 MPH. Fuel usage was obviously higher. When running I prefer to stay out of the carburetors secondaries. I have 4 bbl carbs. I would prefer to stay running on 2 bbls as opposed to the 4 bbls.

What do other owners of the same boat run at and what are your recommendations for a good and fuel efficient running speed and throttle settings. I am thinking of running at 2800 RPM whenever I make my next run.

To my ear though the 2600 setting seemed to be right on.

What say ye other 3007 owners.
