View the latest post Throttle cable replacement '96 400

I have ordered the upper to lower throttle control cables and plan on replacing them next week. Has anyone here ever done this on a similar platform? Any pointers?

It doesn’t appear to be too difficult. I am able to put my eyes on most of the cable from point a to b. The tricky spot is going to be the riser and I’m hopeful that there are no inaccessible sections tie wrapped.

I am replacing the cables because the port side seems to be stretched and I have trouble getting the rpm down to an idle. I have to slap it down from about 1/4. In the lower helm I do not have this problem.

Thanks!

Steven

View the latest post 1994 Carver 310 Santego

We just purchased a 1994 Carver 310 Santego. The only other boat we've ever had was a fiberglass flat bottom John boat. Looking forward to meeting other Carver owners and getting tips on how to save money doing as much work as we can ourselves. We take it out of the water for bottom painting and service this weekend. Which will be nice because apparently when you buy a big boat (to me a big boat), you can't get it out of your mind and are subject to look at pictures online of other Carvers and not get much else done. Our boat is in New Bern, NC but once we get the bottom coat on we are looking for a permanent marina. Hopefully in the Wilmington are as close to an inlet as possible. Any suggestions are welcome.

View the latest post A/C condensation in galley bilge

I own a 88 mariner 3297. I have noticed water in the bilge. I know it's coming from the a/c condensation. Is that normal or is there a drain line broken? Only jade the boat since July but love it.

View the latest post Attachment(s) spotlight

Hi all. I have a '94 390 that has a breaker on the DC panel for the spotlight, but my boat doesn't have a spotlight installed. Where is the normal location on this model and year for the spotlight to be mounted? Is it reasonable to assume that the wiring pigtail for the spotlight will be found in the area that spotlight is normally mounted (bow pulpit, flybridge)? Thanks in advance for any replies.

View the latest post HELP 2000 Carver 350 Mariner Transmission Vibration

Hello all!

I am new to the forum, but excited to see if anyone can help me. :help:

I just bought a 2000 350 Mariner and after one week I found a really bad vibration coming from the port side while underway over 2500 RPM. Anything below 2500 RPM is smooth as silk. I brought her to the ship yard to be hauled out for a quick check of the props and drive lines. After inspection, the props are good, drive lines are straight, cutlass bearings good, but found play in the port side gear when turning the props. The mechanic at the shipyard says that the gear needs to be pulled and looked at (Rebuilt/Replaced). I have a couple questions below I am looking for advice/answers on.

1- Does the motor need to be pulled in this model Carver to get the tranny out?
2- I cannot find the data plate anywhere on the transmission to get model/serial#. What is a good number to call Carver direct to find this information out??
3 - What is a typical cost for a job like this, rebuilt or replace transmission?

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this and help me out.

View the latest post 2807 Riviera Information Please

Twin 305's 690 hours. 3 years in Dry Dock.
How will the seals for the drive shafts hold up?
We're going to drop it in the water and do a sea trial but what do I need to look for and what is common?
Any assistance here would be totally appreciated.

View the latest post Wife wanted a Carver

We're in the final stages of purchasing a 2807. 1986 that needs PLENTY of TLC.
Going to be a long winter restoring something that has been dry docked for 3 years.
We are going to be asking a whole lot of questions.

View the latest post It's awful quiet in here, so here is a whole album of my new-to-me Carver boat!

Here is an album of my 1982 3007 I purchased about 3 weeks ago. We have a ton of work left and most of what we have done is cosmetic. The boat really needed a good scrub down when I got it and the outside can't be seen well in the pictures but it does clean up well. White is so hard to keep streak free but I'm getting there. Mechanically I don't have anything that needs any attention this season. I am running just a little lean it seems when underway and a good carb rebuild might do the job but that can be done after winter haul out. Enjoy and please tell me what you think!

View the latest post Original tuner/vcr/cd equipment out! What now?

We recently bought a 1999 Carver 530 and are upgrading the stereo system next week.
We're removing a VCR player, 2 tuners and a multi-CD player. We're installing a new blue tooth compatible receiver, amp and all new speakers. This is going to leave us with open cabinet space in the main salon. I'd love to use it for liquor/wine storage. Does anyone have any photos of clever storage ideas for the newly opened up spaces?
Thanks!

View the latest post New Carver Voyager 530 Owner!

Hi! Just found this forum - nice to have a place dedicated to Carver boats!
My husband and I just bought (well, actually in May of this year) a 1999 Carver Voyager 530. We've taken a few overnight trips this summer and are hoping to take advantage of what's left of the summer here in N. Michigan to venture a little further. We're about to upgrade some things and I've got questions .... off to the right section here for some guidance!
