View the latest post Hatch replacements

Hi all, does anyone know where I can purchase hatch replacement units for a 3297 carver mariner.
The recessed design must make them specific to carver.
Thanks

View the latest post Black water holding tank

A few summers ago I plumbed all my grey water through the shower sump thus eliminating the need for the 70 gallon grey water holding tank. I would now like to plumb the black water into that tank and eliminate that 40 gallon holding tank completely. Does anyone see any reasons I should not attemp that project. The boat is my 1986. 3297 mariner
Thank you

View the latest post Air Conditioner odor

For the last couple of seasons we can smell like a holding tank odor sometimes in our cabin. I have checked everything I can think of and there is no smell in the bilge or when you flush. This week we realized we only have the odor when the cabin A/C is on. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this or have any ideas on what could be causing it?

View the latest post SEI outdrives

Hello all. I have purchased an 88 270 Montego dual cabin. We have been doing a lot of work on her are anxiously awaiting her first launch ( under new management). Unfortunately she has not been serviced properly for a good while it seems. I had requested new impellers, bellows kits and gimble bearings be installed by our boatyard. The service on the port side went smoothly and that unit is ready to install. The starboard unit is another matter. It is frozen up to the point it must be replaced. The Alpha one 1.84 gearing has been discontinued and the recommendation by the yard is to replace both units with 1.94 SEI drives. Price is very reasonable compared to rebuilt Alpha ones. Has anyone in the forum got any experience with these outdrives. I understand they are assembled in Florida using some components from south east Asia. ANY input would be appreciated.

View the latest post Carver 3607 on Great South Bay, NY

Hi, I'm Captain Bill of the Nautical School of Long Island.
Have owned this wonderful 1984 Carver motoryacht boat for 24 years. She has a custom aft-deck hard top with glass and lexan enclosure WITH AN AFT DECK A/C. I am seeking information on a replacement swim platform for her. Otherwise, the boat is perfect for the Great South Bay of Long Island, NY, (where's she's resided for 24 years).

View the latest post Portlight Window Screens

Hi Fellas,

I need to replace all of the portlight mosquito screens. I ordered what I thought would work from Defender.com only to find out that they did not fit once they arrived.

Any ideas on ordering the right sizes? 1987 3227 Convertible. I have heard one guy went to the local hardware store? Do you think they'll make the screens? I've also heard that Bomar is the original manufacturer but upon inspecting their website, they only sell wholesale.

Any help on this topic would be awesome!

Thanks in advance.

View the latest post What should I look at???

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade from my "cuddy" boat. I would like something 30'-40'. I like the Carver Mariner because it's salon is all one level. A few steps up and a few down. I feel it would be easy to navigate for someone with mobility issues. What other models should I be looking at? I'm not sure of the differences between Flybridge, Sedan Bridge, Convertible, and Sedan boats. Please give me some models to look at.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Tobermory Ontario

Just back from 2 weeks holidays on GBay. Spent a week at Tobermory - anyone who is on the bay needs to travel here. Weather was spectacular - despite surfing some 6-10 footers on the way home.

View the latest post Deck crane

Looking for an "affordable" deck crane to lift my seadoo out of the water and set it onto my swim platform. The seadoo is 1000lbs (wet). I am aware of the usual suspects - Nautical Structures, Avant ex Global, etc - but these guys are Maga yacht crane suppliers. I am considering using a local machine shop to fabricate something if I can't locate something "off the shelf". The Voyagers had an optional roof crane as does the Marquis. This crane would only need to lift the 1000lbs 24" out of the water and I would manually turn it to set it on chocks.

I have looked into truck mounted material handling cranes that are very interesting and I may go that route.

If anybody has had a crane built locally I would be interested in your experience...
