View the latest post Port engine starting slow when hot
- Posted by: Good News » August 3rd, 2016, 5:59 pm
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
My 454xls always start but when hot starboard engine starts instantly with no throttle. Port engine takes some winding to start. Both engines had complete tune ups last summer and run well. I am wondering if it could be anti-syphon valve leaking back and where is it located? They have electric fuel pumps. Any ideas.

I am looking to make a Mariner 350 a live aboard boat. My question is, has anyone installed a washer dryer combo into the boat? I'm thinking the area where the tv / ladder is, would make a great location. Thoughts?

Hi All,
I'm looking to step up to a Mariner 350. My key considerations for this model number where the design. It's a cool looking boat. I also love the floor plan with everything on one level.
With that being said, I'm now to the Mariner line. Can you please give me some thing that I should be looking for in the Mariner line up and across years of production. What are the things that go bad? What are the thing that age good?
Here are some questions to start off.
1. Are they carbonated or fuel injected? Years that they changed over?
2. Internal construction? Is there any wood inside to rot? Stingers?
3. What is a lot of hours on an engine and when should it be rebuilt?
4. The brochure says 14.6' bridge clearance. Is that keel to radar arch?
5. What is the measurements of the shower stall? Is the bathroom comfortable for larger people?
6. Where do you store you stuff? How is your boat configured?
7. Tunnel drives? Or from the pics, Is the bow keel lower then the props?
8. Can you see the transom from the helm when docking? How do you dock?
9. Does any one really use the ladder from the salon to the helm?
10. How rough will it handle? Rough seas? Waves? (I'm on lake Ontario)
11. What's in the two hatches adjacent to the anchor?
12. Is there an exhaust fan in the bathroom?
13. Separate AC/Heat units?
14. Is there a way to look up Hull numbers to see ordered options?
15. Is there a garbage can or area in the boat?
I would appreciate any info you can send along.

From Pt Severn to Simcoe my 3807 drank a lot of fuel. While out playing around today I tried something. Cruising at 2200rpm I was moving along at 8 knots. I scaled back one engine to neutral and only list 1.3 knots in speed. On long voyages, I'm considering running on one engine only - alternating periodically between the two. Is there any harm in this?
Thanks

View the latest post 2003 Carver 444 CMY - Fwd Auto Bilge Circuit Breaker
- Posted by: Reel Slow » August 2nd, 2016, 11:57 am
- Forum: General Boating Discussion
Good afternoon! Ok..... in the aft S/R, there is the Safety Breaker Panel that houses the Auto Bilge Pump breakers. The Fwd Auto Bilge Pump breaker is missing. There are 2 wires tucked into the red terminal protector that goes to this breaker. The replacement breaker has a screw at the top and at the bottom of the back side of the breaker. Do both wires go to the top screw on the breaker and the other screw attaches the breaker to what seems to be a bus bar? The two wires are: 1 for auto and the other for Helm bilge on? Not seeing how the breaker attaches to the bus bar, assuming that it is a bus bar and not just a support. Maybe one wire goes to each screw and the bar is just a support?
I'm away from the boat and am trying to figure this our from afar so I'll be ready when I get back - I didn't have time to use a tester on the wires. There certainly isn't a lot of extra wire slack to pull the panel out....Help please?

Can someone tell me how you tell how much water flows out the exhaust ports in the swim platform ? I am not sure what I am looking at,is there another port?? The one we ran was very hard to see what was going on with the water flow thru engine, so maybe I am looking in the wrong spot. Thanks ,checking out another boat today.
