View the latest post Raymarine 45 STV

Anybody ever work on one of these? I have a Raymarine 45 STV Sat Dome that has not been used since I acquired the boat. The unit powers up and locks DTV satellites so I assume it works. I have chosen to go with Dish Network due to their Marine/RV HD signal and have manuals for the set-up. My question is the Raymarine manual noted that a CD was included for setup through a laptop with a Graphical User Interface. Problem is mine did not have a CD with the manuals and I have spent hours on hold with Raymarine to ask if it is still available without actually getting someone on the phone. Any help is appreciated :help:

View the latest post Attachment(s) Sundeck Ice Maker

Welcoming comments on the Carver factory mounted sundeck ice maker. The unit on my 405 has the water line capped behind the master state room closet that supplies the ice maker and the sink by a previous owner for unknown reasons. I am planning to reconnect the water line and after a thorough flushing see how it works. The unit itself powers up so I don't understand at this point for the cutoff? I am expecting that once water is restored I will find out!

View the latest post Volt Gauges 1990 Carver 3807

Long story short. After a battery fire (due to a faulty connection at the terminal) I had my generator and all batteries replaced. I am familair with my mechanic and for the most part find him fair but others have not had the same success. He's relatively new at the game. Upon completion of the job, my volt gauges are not working. Mechanic contends that there is power to them but the gauges are faulty. I never had a problem before right up to the day of the fire. Few questions:
1. Does this sound like a problem resulting from the fire? It seems very odd that BOTH gauges went faulty during the down time waiting on the repair.
2. Can you short-out and fry a gauge?
3. Can those gauges still be sourced? He's telling me we will have to replace them with aftermarket gauges (which will look goofy as heck).
4. The new genny exhausts out the stbd. The old genny out the port. The old exhaust hose (that leads to the exhaust box) is still in place but capped off. Until he capped it off, there was a backflow of exhaust into the engine room when the port engine was running. I'm thinking it would be safer if removed completely and the access hole into the exhaust box closed up securely. Am I being picky?
Thanks guys.

View the latest post 1995 390 CPMY Salon Interior panels

While pulling some wires on my boat recently, the electrician apparently pulled the port overhead light panel down, the one that runs the full length of the salon directly over the windows and to which the blinds attach. Now the panel won't attach firmly to the ceiling, and hangs down about 2-3 inches, blocking the rear access panel on the salon bulkhead. Has anyone had experience removing or replacing the overhead panel? I can't see any attach points--simply not enough room to see or feel for them. Thanks!

View the latest post Carver Mariner 3697 generator replacement

I have a 1987 Mariner with the 6.5 KW MCCK generator. The current generator started smoking and making a loud banging noise and after having someone take a look at it sounds like the main bearings are bad. So instead of wait to have this generator rebuilt I bought a rebuilt of the same model. The only hard part is now that the new one is here I need to swap them. Has anyone ever pull and replaced the generator on this boat?

View the latest post 1998 355 AC/MY Hot Water Heater

Looking ahead for a replacement hot water heater for our 1998 355 AC/MY. Parts listing says it's a Gallo? It's a 11 gallon heater with the engine plumbing in the back of the heater and the fresh water supply in the front. Replaced the relief valve already and now need to replace the drain valve that's leaking. Would like to, when the time comes, replace with the same style heater so I do not have to do any re-plumbing and can just plug and play. Thanks in advance! Mike

View the latest post First "big" boat, brand new member.

Hello all!

My wife and I just paid for a 1982 Carver 3007 Aft Cabin and take delivery next weekend. We are brand new to the world of bigger boats. She grew up on Lake Erie and her dad has a 30' Sea Ray with a cuddy and I have had a couple smaller V hulls but we currently own a pontoon we bought new a few years ago and are excited to have an indoor space to spend more time out on or in the boat!

We know pretty much nothing about twin screw boats or anything that has to do with them but I'm mechanically sound enough we will learn quickly. Can't wait to get it out on the water and have some fun!

View the latest post 1994 Carver 390 CPMY

Proud owner of this fine vessel! However, there is one thing we can't figure out. As we head from the salon down the stairs to the galley (This thing has more staircases than my house!) there are 4 light switches. ONE of them has a green led under it, for I am assuming a light that is out of sight, as in the bilge or a cabinet. However, we can't find where or what this dang switch powers! ANYONE, any help please???
