View the latest post 1984 Aft Cabin 3607 Windlass Locker

I recently purchased a 1984 Aft Cabin 3607. Unfortunately, the previous owner had passed away before I bought it.
I have been making general repairs and decided to have the " Good Automatic Windlass" rebuilt by Tom at Good. I also purchased new 5/8" rope from Good.
The old rope looks to be stored behind two cabinet doors in the bow of the V-birth. I do not notice any drain holes, only vents from above to allow air in. Is this the correct placement?
As I inspect the boat, I also notice a compartment, under the cushions of the v-birth. It is toward the bow and it has a drain hole. It also has a 2" tube that runs from the deck to allow ventilation, any idea what this compartment would be used for?
Keith

Ahoy, I wanted to introduce myself and my beautiful bride, Keith and Terri McCabe.

View the latest post 1998 350 Mariner plotter change

My Apelco 530 display is toast and I'm having trouble locating a replacement display which is forcing me to change out my depth gauge/ plotter system I only use the depth finder feature and really don't have a need for the plotter, but my problem is finding a system that either uses the same mounting scenario for the transducer (which is a bottom hull mount) or where things can be easily modified. I will be able to have the boat pulled from the water and I will have around a 4 hour window to have any below the waterline work finished before the boat will get re splashed. If anybody has already had to swap systems and are happy, I would love some help.

Thank you

View the latest post Crusader clicking sound

My starboard engine has a clicking sound when you increase rpm from idle. Idle to 1200 rpm. Repeat it several times.
Can this sound be the fuel injection?

View the latest post 2000 Carver 356 horn issues

Tackling next item on list :) After couple months of ownership got around to testing the horn, no sound. Assumed if I don't hear it others wont either. So not sure bad horn or electrical issue. How can I test the power or horn. I hope I do not have to take apart the horn switch, as there is no easy access to below it. Is there a way to test from horn side, maybe check to see if power is going to it at leads on the horn?

In the process of acquiring a 1993 350 Aft Cabin. Needs some tlc, but the bones of the boat appear to be be solid. Looking forward to fixing her up to become ours. I am sure I will be looking to get advice from many of the experienced owners here at this sight, and will welcome all of the wisdom you wish to impart. :captain2:

View the latest post Storm July 08, 2016 Georgian Bay

We were hit by this freak of nature on Friday evening while travelling from Port Severn to Frying Pan Bay. We literally went from calm sea's and zero wind to all out mayhem in a matter of minutes. The first wind blast taken on the port side knocked us to starboard to about 45 degrees. It was an all out battle to keep her turned into the wind using the throttles to steer. We were not making headway at all but being shoved off course into a heavily shoaled area. Visibility was non existent and the rain was horizontal, stinging and burning any exposed skin. We lost the battle and ended up on a smooth rock shoal heeled to starboard at a very steep angle. Mayday was put out and with no response, realised that our VHF antenna had been knocked down. A Coast Guard Auxiliary in the Honey Harbour answered and did a call relay. We were pounded and lashed for a considerable length of time after grounding. When the winds died down a young contractor who had been caught as well, approached us and began taking our crew on. A seadoo boat arrived shortly after, (possibly the ACCG member?), and got me off of the boat last. The Thomas P Coffin OPP unit arrived on scene and all 6 were transferred over. The Brebeuf CCG vessel arrived shortly thereafter and they transported one of the crew back to the boat to retrieve meds and wallets. We were then transported to the Midland Town Dock where a cab was called for us. Mariah's Song was pulled off of the shoal early Saturday morning by Hindson's Marina and towed back to their facility. Once there she was lifted out and blocked up. Obvious damage to both props, a bent strut, signs of surface damage to the keel, both chines and scuffs and scrapes down both sides. Construction of our 1982 3007 Aft Cabin was referred to as "like a tank" considering the pounding she had taken. Hats off to all who were involved, letters to appropriate agencies to follow, and hats off to Carver for the incredibly robust construction back in 1982.
No real injuries, the bruises and bumps. We were advised that the sustained winds had been measured at 69 knots!
We consider ourselves very fortunate.
Mariah's Song, and we will return after repairs.
